✨✧ GazzaraBossa Lounge Sessions ... CD
Irma (Italy), 2020. New Copy 2CDs ... Out Of Stock
It's been a long time since we last heard from Italian keyboardist Francesco Gazzara – but it's definitely worth the wait, as this 2CD set pulls together some great bossa-styled recordings of the past two decades – with one disc of live material recorded around the world, the other caught live in the studio! Gazzara's always had a strong commitment to vintage keyboards – and those keys sound great here amidst the groovy bossa nova rhythms – Fender Rhodes, Hammond organ, and other keyboards – mostly with just a bit of bass and percussion, plus added sax or flute on a few other tracks too. The whole thing's a great return to genius for Gazzara – the best set he's given us in years – and titles include "Chitlins Con Carne", "The Spirit Of Summer", "Hot Barbecue", "Boomerang", "Skipper Bossa", "Song For My Father", "We Had A Ball", "Black Jack", "Bahia Moon", "New Frontier", "Orinoco", "Latin Breeze", and "O Passarinho". ✨✧ Riz OrtolaniLa Ragazza Di Trieste ... CD
Beat (Italy), 1982. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A cool Riz Ortolani soundtrack for this obscure early 80s film that starred Ben Gazzara – music that's of much later vintage than some of Ortolani's classics, but still pretty great overall! There's a fair bit of keyboards in the mix, but they're still delivered with the warmth we've come to expect from Riz – mixed in with sexier strings, and some occasional moments that echo the darker tones of horror scoring, but in a really subtle way that never overloads the sweeter side of the music. A haunting piano line provides a few spookier touches – and the whole thing's packaged in the same great way as other excellent Avanz label titles from Japan! Tracks include "Cercando Nicole", "Sgomento", "Suicidio", "La Ragazza Di Trieste", "Allucinazioni", "Spiaggia Assolata", and "Esaltazione Dei Senzi". CD
