✨✧ David FriedmanFutures Passed ... LP
Inner City, 1976. Sealed ... $9.99
One of the coolest, grooviest albums we've ever heard from vibist Dave Friedman – a set that really lives up to the promise we sometimes expect from other records of his, but never find this clearly! Friedman plays both marimba and vibes – the latter with this bold, chromatic quality that comes through even in gentle moments – a bit like Gary Burton, but turned towards much more varied ends here – as the songs really shift in mood and approach, keeping things fresh throughout! Vocalist Rimona Francis lends her lovely wordless singing style to about half the album's tracks – but in a way that's more like an instrument than a conventional jazz singer – and the group also features surprisingly great acoustic piano work from Pat Rebillot (who we mostly know from keyboard sessions), plus Harvie Swartz on bass and Bruce Ditmas on drums. Titles include "Rachel's Samba", "Rodney's Dream Of Fantasy & Self Fullfilment", "Three Pieces", "Trinkle Trinkle", and "A Smile On The Face Of Mourning". LP, Vinyl record album

William HookerMindfulness (clear vinyl pressing – with bonus tracks) (2019 Record Store Day Release) ... LP
Knitting Factory, 1997. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... $29.99
One of the looser, more experimental albums we've ever heard from percussionist William Hooker – done at a time when his fame was really reaching past the New York downtown scene! The set was recorded in San Francisco, and features the great Glenn Spearman on a variety of reeds, plus DJ Olive on turntables, and Hooker on both drums and a bit of spoken word – on long titles that include "Solemn Breath Knowledge/In This Earthy Body", "Living Organs/Parallel Planes", "Archetypal Space", "Principle Of Duality", and "Flow Rt 1 (Awake)". LP also features two bonus tracks not on the CD – "History & Futures" and "Architecture (Book Of Numbers)". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited edition of 1000 – on clear vinyl!)

LitterEmerge ... LP
Probe/ABC, 1969. Very Good- Gatefold ... $14.99
Heavy fuzzed out psychedelia from the late 60s Twin Cities scene – the wild and hard charging Emerge from The Litter – with a heft that would be just as right at home in Detroit at the time as it was in Minneapolis! A lot of that has to due to with the heft – the drums pound heavily and the vocalists wail more than sing – this is a nasty piece of business, this Litter! Still, lumbering as chose to, there's still a nice groove that comes out, particularly on the less frezious moments, and the titles include "Journeys", "Feeling", "Silly People", "Blue Ice", "For What It's Worth", "Little Red Book", "Breakfeast At Gardenson's", and "Futures Of The Past". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original US pressing. Cover has a stuck gatefold, half split bottom seam, and some clear tape on the spine and back.)

✨✧ FallLive At The Witch Trials (3CD set) ... CD
Cherry Red (UK), 1979. New Copy 3CD (reissue)... Out Of Stock
This album is early Fall at their best – raw, edgey, and also surprisingly witty at times too – an amazing showcase for the young talents of Mark E Smith, and a key bridge between punk energy and the more creative styles of the post-punk generation. The sounds are incredible – especially considering the relatively standard instrumentation – and the record's really one that has The Fall working with the same sonic force as The Swell Maps – using noise as much as their guitars, and creating an amazing soundscape for the always-biting lyrics! Titles include "Mother Sister", "No Xmas For John Quays", "Rebellious Jukebox", "Frightened", "Live At The Witch Trials", "Music Scene", and "Futures & Pasts". 3CD set is an amazing package – as CD2 features 18 tracks from singles, rehearsals, and live BBC sessions – including "Various Times (extended)", "Bingo Master", "Psycho Mafia", "Repetition", "It's The New Thing", and "Last Orders (live)". CD3 features a full 12 track live show – recorded in Liverpool in 1978! CD
