A trad-revival set recorded on Chicago's south side in the early 60s – part of an excellent series on Riverside, seeking to re-discover some older jazz and blues greats who were languishing in the Windy City at the time! Junie C Cobb plays mostly piano on the date, but also sings on one number too – in a style that's got plenty of bluesy undercurrents, particularly on the numbers that feature vocals by Annabelle Calhoun. Other group members include Leon Washington on tenor, Fortunatus Fip Ricard on trumpet, and Harlen Bobby Floyd on trombone – and titles include "Be Mine", "Just Because Of You", "Swing Your Hurdy Gurdy", "Once Or Twice", and "Belligerent Blues".
