Look out is right – because the album's a killer and one of the few sides ever cut by Michigan pianist EvansBradshaw! Bradshaw's got a hard-hitting approach to the keys that was relatively fresh in the early years of soul jazz – and unlike some of his more famous contemporaries, he never resorts to easy phrasing to put over his sound – and can instead work some complicated magic on the keys that often echoes modern styles of the 50s, but comes across with an earthier feel overall. This debut session is a simple but extremely effective trio outing – with Bradshaw on piano, George Joyner on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums. Titles include "The Prophet", "Coolin The Blues", "Blueinet", "Angel Eyes", and "Love For Sale". CD
