AJ Suede/SpecswizardLong May We Rain/Lost Gems ... LP
Crane City, 2021. New Copy ... $25.99 28.99
A split album – featuring work from Seattle up-and-comer AJ Suede, and longstanding resident artist Specswizard! There's a strong sense of history that runs through the AJ Suede titles – vintage soul snippets and historical recordings – laced together carefully to accompany AJ's down to earth lyrics on titles that include "Blood Cruzzins", "Democrazy Manifest", "The Plane", "Majora", and "Ten Times Plus". Things are a bit more lean on the Specswizard side – lots of fantastic soulful tones and textures, mixed together with a spare sound that never gets in the way of the muted voice that delivers the rhymes – some biting commentary on his city and scene – on titles that include "Floyd", "The President", "Legend", "Pirate Tax", "Another", and "Empty". LP, Vinyl record album
(Hand-numbered limited edition of 500!)

Da QweenRenaissance Bitch (purple vinyl pressing) ... LP
Crane City, 2021. New Copy ... $25.99 28.99
Seattle rapper Da Qween looks relaxed and regal on the cover – but the sound of the set has a taught intensity that comes through right away – fast rhymes, crispy beats, and a sense of urgency that holds on all the way through! There's a few sung vocal moments that get nice and mellow – and these are a great contrast to the rapped lyrical lines – served up with a strong production tip that keeps things sharp, on titles that include "Heartbreak/Heartbrake", "When Worst Comes To Worst", "When The Rain Comes", "Reefer Madness", "Worthy", "Hearda You", and "STFU". ✨✧ Stas Thee BossOn The Quarner (red vinyl pressing) ... LP
Crane City, 2021. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Striking sounds from Seattle female rapper/producer Stas Thee Boss – a record that has a core of sounds inspired by the Miles Davis album On The Corner – referenced here in the title and cover graphic – with a shifting array of sounds and rhymes that the trumpeter would have been proud to hear! The record's got all these dark textures and subtle sonic elements – and Stas' rhymes slide right into the mix, shifting themes in the spacious 15 minute work at the core – augmented on vinyl by a few bonus tracks too! Quarner passages include "Hex Girlfriend", "Unsullied", "Wow", "Change", "Owe Mike Nobody Cares", and "Well Yeah" – and bonus cuts include "For The Less Fortunate", "Frontin Centered", and "Love Everybody". ✨✧ Bud PowellStrictly Powell (French pressing) ... LP
RCA (France), 1957. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Just Sold Out!
Strictly Bud Powell, in the best sense of the word – as the album's a sharp batch of trio tracks recorded for RCA in the 50s, and a great showcase for Bud's firey talents on the piano! The rhythm combo features bold work on drums from Art Taylor, alongside the bass of George Duvivier – but Powell's definitely the leading light here, as the album features some of his tremendously deft work on the keys throughout. There's a nice tension to the material – played with a strength that matches most of Bud's other work from the time – but a bit different than some of his other recordings for Verve and Blue Note. The set features 11 tracks in all – and titles include "Time Was", "Jump City", "Elegy", "Coscrane", and "Topsy Turvy". LP, Vinyl record album

VariousStill In A Dream – A Story Of Shoegaze 1988 to 1995 (5CD set) ... CD
Cherry Red (UK), Late 80s/Early 90s. New Copy 5 CDs ... $44.99 65.99
Psychedelia meets British pop – in a really special musical moment that's forever come to be known as shoegaze! The work here comes from a time when the UK scene was really moving past punk rock, and starting to let its guitarists open up in the kind of longer, fuzzy solos that were big in the late 60s – along with all the sort of heady production modes that made such music sound even better, but always with the kind of leaner, more focused lessons learned from the post-punk years! The result is a special sort of sound that can trip out as needed, but never get too overindulgent to lose the tune – the balance that first came to play on the early singles of Creation or 4AD, then found flower in so many other UK groups as the years went on. These glorious years are presented here in a big 5CD set – one that comes in a book-styled package with loads of notes on the music – alongside 87 tracks by artists who include Blow Up, The Honey Buzzards, Submarine, Bailter Space, The Curtain Society, Mercury Rev, An April March, Spacemen 3, The Hinnies, Spiritualized, Moose, Spitfire, Moonshake, Bark Psychosis, AR Kane, Jesus & Mary Chain, Lush, Ride, The Darkside, Velocity Girl, Bleach, Catehrine Wheel, See See Rider, Cranes, Chapterhouse, Telescopes, Sun Dial, Medicine, Sweet Jesus, Luna, Astrobrite, and many more!
