Costa BlancaViaje A Prantia ... CD
Aphrodita/Altercat (Germany), 1977. New Copy ... $16.99 19.99
Fantastic fusion from 70s Spain – a set that's maybe equal part jazz and rock – although very different than some of the more jamming prog of the time! Instead, these guys have a great sense of space – so that the guitar of Napi Carratala is used judiciously, and really gives way to these well-crafted solos on alto and tenor from Alain Fabrizio – a player who could easily fit into a more spiritual jazz-styled lineup, but who here adds just the right dose of soulfulness to a record that might have been a lot more cold without his performance! Other players include Pedro Barcelo on drums and Chiqui Navarret on bass – and titles include "Viaje A Prantia", "El Baron De Finestrat", "Tijal", "Cuando El Coco Se Viste De Gris", and "El Caminito Que No Mola". Alec R CostandinosHunchback Of Notre Dame – Original Soundtrack ... LP
Casablanca, 1978. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
Long before Hunchback achieved broadway musical status, disco orchestrator Alec R Costandinos recorded this trashed-up soundtrack for Casablanca, part of their weak and short-lived attempt to break in on film work. Titles include "You Are Accused Before Us", "The Pope Of Fools", "The Attack", "Hanging Of The Sorceress", and "The Inconveniences Of Following A Pretty Girl In The Streets At Night". Alec R CostandinosRomeo & Juliet ... LP
Casablanca, 1977. Near Mint- ... $2.99
Without a doubt, Alec R. Costandinos was one of the strangest disco arranger/producers of the 70s! He had a very baroque vision that took full advantage of the disco industry's heavy cash to turn out these mini disco symphonies filled with full orchestral strings, funky beats, and very high concepts – like the on this album, a suite of 5 long tracks devoted to the Romeo & Juliet legend. Alan Hawkshaw handled keyboards along with Alec, and there's a lot of heavy guitars sweeping in and out of the mix. Not totally soulful stuff, but a great one to chill to in the VIP room! LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve.)
