Buck Clayton & Ruby BraffBuck Meets Ruby (10 inch LP) ... LP
Vanguard, Mid 50s. Very Good ... $29.99
A nice pairing of a couple of trad greats on the trumpet, with both Buck Clayton and Ruby Braff sharing the front line, alongside Buddy Tate and Benny Morton in a sweet little octet. The session's produced with the high level of quality you'd expect from this brief series of Vanguard trad albums – with four numbers in all, including "I Can't Get Started", "Love Is Just Around The Corner", "Just A Groove", and "Kandee". LP, Vinyl record album
(Vinyl is nice and clean – and cover is very nice, no splits!)

✨✧ Buck ClaytonJumpin' At The Woodside ... LP
Columbia, 1955. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A classic from the undisputed master of the swing jazz jam session! Jumpin' At The Woodside has Buck Clayton recreating a Count Basie vibe, but in a much more open-ended, and long-grooving way! Most of the tracks on the record are nice and long – really opening up with a solo-heavy, jam session sort of style – and players shift from track to track, and include Woody Herman on clarinet, Coleman Hawkins on tenor, Al Cohn on tenor, Urbie Green on trombone, and Ruby Braff on trumpet. Titles include "Broadway", "Rock A Bye Basie", "Jumpin At The Woodside", and "Blue & Sentimental". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Ruby BraffLinger Awhile ... CD
Vanguard, Mid 50s. Used ... Out Of Stock
A great collection of work from Ruby Braff's 50s recordings for Vanguard – some of the best sides the trumpeter ever recorded, and material that captures him in wonderfully relaxed company, blowing with some of the best of his contemporaries! There's an easygoing swing to the material – not quite trad, but certainly not boppish either – and players on the records include trumpeter Buck Clayton, trombonists Benny Morton and Vic Dickenson, tenorists Buddy Tate and Sam Margolis, and clarinetist Edmund Hall. Titles include "Wishing", "Linger Awhile", "I'm In The Market For You", "Sweet Sue", "Ghost Of A Chance", and "Keeping Out Of Mischief Now". CD
