✨✧ Brenda LeeRockin' Around The Christmas Tree – The Decca Christmas Recordings ... LP
Decca, Mid 60s. New Copy (reissue)... $16.99 19.99
Brenda Lee was quite a big artist back in the day – and although the rest of her catalog has faded from view over the years, she's very well-remembered for her classic approach to a Holiday tune! Brenda was always a little bit country and a little bit rock and pop – and that blend makes for a great sound on a selection of Christmas tunes that includes the big title hit, plus 17 other numbers that Lee recorded during her years at Decca Records – almost all of them with that twang and punch that makes Brenda's sound so great! Titles include "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree", "This Time Of Year", "Jingle Bell Rock", "The Angel & The Little Blue Bell", "A Marshmallow World", "Strawberry Snow", "White Christmas", "Silver Bells", "Christy Christmas", "Papa Noel", and "I'm Gonna Lasso Santa Claus". ✨✧ Brenda LeeAll The Way ... LP
Decca, 1961. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Brenda Lee grooves it nicely here – working with arrangements from Owen Bradley that equally mix jazz and country influences – all in a sound that's perfect for the youthful vocals of the lady! As with other great Decca sides from the time, Brenda brings a nice undercurrent of sadness to these tunes – a style that easily comes from the warbling sounds in her unique voice, and which still hangs on even when things are a bit more upbeat and rocking at points. Titles include "Lover Come Back To Me", "Dum Dum", "All The Way", "Do I Worry", "Tragedy", and "Eventually". LP, Vinyl record album
(Stereo pressing with deep groove. Cover appears to be signed by the artist.)

✨✧ Brenda LeeQueen Of Rock N Roll ... CD
Decca/Ace (UK), Late 50s/Early 60s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Rocking early work from Brenda Lee – a set that's filled with groovers all the way through, making for a nice change from some of the mellower sounds of her bigger hits! The package does a great job of sifting through early Lee 45s recorded for Decca and Brunswick – material that certainly has a strong country component, but which also features plenty of rocking guitars and basslines too – really bouncing things along nicely, and helping Brenda stay away from the bluer side of the spectrum. Her vocals are really great on some of the best numbers here – with a bite that really surprised us, as we often think of her mostly singing in a tear-stained mode. A great collection from Ace, supported with wonderful notes – and featuring 28 tracks that include "One Step At A Time", "Is It True", "What'd I Say", "Anybody But Me", "Rock The Bop", "Here Comes That Feelin", "That's All You Gotta Do", "Dynamite", "Let The Four Winds Blow", "Bigelow 6 200", "Crazy Talk", and "Dum Dum". ✨✧ VariousChristmas On The Range – 26 Festive & Swinging Country Tunes ... CD
Bear Family (Germany), Late 40s/1950s/Early 60s. New Copy ... $10.99 11.99
A really cool collection of vintage country music Christmas tunes – not just hits, but some excellent obscure material – all pulled together in a way that really lives up to the high standards we expect from the Bear Family label! These tracks are pulled together from a variety of labels and sources, and don't just include cowboy numbers you might guess from the "range" in the title – but also western swing, honky tonk, and maybe a few countrypolitan gems as well! The set features 26 titles in all – with great graphics and notes throughout – to accompany titles that include "Santa Claus Is Coming" by Skeeter Davis, "Santa's On His Way" by Bob Wills, "North Pole Boogie" by Billy Briggs, "Christmas Can't Be Far Away" by Eddie Arnold, "Christmas Time's A-Coming" by Bill Monroe, "Jolly Old St Nicholas" by Wilf Carter, "I Wish Everyday Was Christmas" by Ray Salter, "New Baby For Christmas" by George Jones, "Blue Snowfall" by George Morgan, "White Christmas" by Ernest Tubb, "Christmas Carols By The Old Corral" by Tex Ritter, "No Place Like Home On Christmas" by Little Jimmy Dickens, "It's Christmas Time" by The Louvin Brothers, "Home At Christmas" by Nelson Young, "I'm Gonna Lasso Santa" by Brenda Lee, and "We Wanna See Santa Do The Mambo" by Terry Fell. VariousLaurie Records Story Vol 3 – Girls & Girl Groups ... CD
Ace (UK), Mid 60s. New Copy ... $11.99 18.99
Great girl group grooves from Laurie Records – one of the powerhouses of the genre during the 60s! The set brings together some of the best that Laurie had to offer at the time – not just hits, but some great lesser-known gems that really make the package stand out from other girl group sets on the market – a wonderful collection of both rock and soul cuts that show there's still plenty left to discover if you know where to dig! Tracks are pulled not just from the main Laurie label, but also from other imprints too – including the Rust, Providence, and Harmon labels – and as usual, Ace has done a bang-up job with the notes and images – helping us learn plenty about the music while our ears are enjoying the sounds. Titles include "Hanky Panky" by The Summits, "Shy Guy" by The Charmers, "You're The Love Of My Life" by Brenda Lee Jones, "Stop Look & Listen" by The Chiffons, "He's Mine" by Linda & The Lindettes, "Your Big Mistake" by The Del-Rons, "I Still Love You" by Les Girls, "He's My Dream Boy" by Marie Antoinette, "How Can I Be Sure" by Gloria Dennis, "Circus Girl" by Bernadette Carroll, "Whenever A Teenager Cries" by The Jeans, "Nothing Went Right" by Lorrie Darnell, and "Your Life Is Gone" by Reparata.
