✨✧ Old & New Dreams (Don Cherry/Dewey Redman/Charlie Haden/Ed Blackwell)Old & New Dreams (ECM) ... LP
ECM (Germany), 1979. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
One of the greatest groups of the second generation of ECM – a post-Ornette Coleman quartet that features Don Cherry, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell – all exploring space in a way that's quite different than their work with Ornette! The sound here is much freer, and atmospheric – in keeping with Cherry's work of the 70s, and the overall ECM sound of the time – and although unified, there's less of an emphasis on group dynamics than in the Coleman years, and more of a recognition of the role of the individual. Titles include unique reworkings of Ornette's "Lonely Woman" and "Open Or Close" – plus Blackwell's "Togo", Cherry's "Guinea", Redman's "Orbit Of La-Ba", and Charlie Haden's "Song For The Whales". Bob Seger SystemRamblin' Gamblin' Man ... LP
Capitol, 1969. Very Good ... $19.99
Heavy psych from Detroit, in the years before Bob Seger became a "lighters in the air" peddler of redneck theme songs. Cut from the same cloth as the early Mitch Ryder, Amboy Dukes and Grand Funk that were the hallmark of the Motor City rock sound of the day, most of the tracks on this outing are concise rockers, but the band delves into a bit of nice jamminess on side 2. Includes 'Tales Of Lucy Blue", "Ivory", "Gone Down Home", "Train Man", "White Wall", "Black Eyed Girl", "2 + 2 = ?" and "Doctor Fine". LP, Vinyl record album
(Stereo rainbow label pressing. Cover has light ring & edge wear.)

✨✧ Frank StackFoolbert Funnies – Histories & Other Fictions ... Book
Fantagraphics, 2015. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
The first-ever full collection of work from underground comix pioneer Frank Stack – an artist who arguably created the first ever underground comic, and whose work appeared in a variety of publications over the years – from National Lampoon, to some of Harvey Pekar's most compelling stories! Stack has a style that's cartoony, but surprisingly pointed – more Jules Feiffer, than the goony style of some of his underground contemporaries – and very well-suited to the subject matter he chooses to portray especially some of his more political material. The large book features work from Blab, Drawn & Quarterly, National Lampoon, Mineshaft, Weirdo, and Ripoff Press – and the book is black and white, 224 pages, softcover. Book
