The end of the 80s saw a huge new shift
in music on the UK scene – a moment when indie rock and club music collided – and guitar-based work was back on the dancefloors
in a really big way! Part of the shift came from years of UK interest
in house, electro, and other American styles – which were often spun alongside post-punk and indie material
in the same clubs (maybe most famously at the Hacienda
in Manchester) – leading to a surprising blend of styles that breathed a lot of new life into the world of rock music as well! This set captures cuts from the key years of this moment – the post-1988 summer of love period through years when dance might take over more completely – a much-loved moment, filled with well-remembered cuts – presented here
in a big box set that features many rare mixes from 12" singles as well. The box brings together 57 tracks
in all, all with detailed notes on the music – and includes work from Primal Scream, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, 808 State, Inspiral Carpets, Future
Sound Of London, Electronic, Candy Flip, Telescopes, Hollow Men, Spacemen 3, Spin, World Of Twist, Mock Turtles, Northside, The Moonflowers, Charlatans, Shamen, Blow Up, Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, The Dylans, Saint Etienne, and others!
