One of JohnBarry's first true moments of genius – recorded back when he was the leader of a fab little instrumental combo called the JohnBarry 7, and was tagged to do some soundtrack work that would forever change the rest of his career! The album's got some incredible instrumental tunes that mix electric guitar and beatnik jazz in a mode that's keeping with the juvenile delinquent theme of the film – with some strings sneaking in to cheese things up a bit, but in a great way that only makes the tunes sound even better! AdamFaith sings vocals on "The Beat Girl Song", "Made You", and "I Did What You Told Me" – and other tunes include "Blues For Beatnicks", "Blondie's Strip", "Beat Girl", "Time Out", "The Sharks", and "The City 2000 AD". This El UK edition includes bonus tracks by Gillian Hills, The JohnBarry Sound and AdamFaith. CD
Strong work in the lead by The Roulettes – a group who initially replaced the JohnBarry Seven as the backing group behind UK rocker AdamFaith – but who here really seem to find a great sound of their own! The combo had changed a bit by the time of this debut – and benefits from great guitar by a young Russ Ballard – in a mix of beat and sweet styles that are often recorded with the same sort of echoey charm of early Beatles material, but which also get occasional jazz and blues moments that tie them more strongly to the growing wave of mod music to come. CD adds in lots of bonus tracks to the original album – 22 titles in all, with tracks that include "Bad Time", "Settle Down", "I'll Remember Tonight", "You Don't Love Me", "Stubborn Kind Of Fellow", "Yesterday Today & Tomorrow", "The Long Cigarette", "Junk", "Tell Tale Tit", and "Me Body".
