A stone classic from one of the hippest groups on the South African scene of the 70s – and one of the few who could compete well with American soul groups of the same time! The cover makes the album look like some overlooked New York club treasure from the period – and the feel of the music is similar too – with long tracks, a nicely percolating groove, and soulful currents that would be right at home in the underground! Yet there's also some slight South African elements too – maybe a bit of township jive, or riffing guitar, which sets the whole album apart in a really great way. The vibe is like some of the really underground Cali-soul of the early 80s, with the fresh and unusual touches that we love in the work of the P&P label too – and although vocals figure on most tracks, the real highlight is the unusual work on keyboards and guitar.
