South American Holiday

LP (Item 936414) Mercury, 1962 — Condition: Very Good

(Mono white label promo with deep groove.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Mercury, 1966. Very Good+
Fantastic piano work from the very groovy Horst Jankowski – an artist who's really stepping into his own with this sweet mid 60s album! The set still follows the balance of electric bass and hard piano sounds from Horst – but it also fleshes out the music in a really great way, by ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wonderful funky fuzzy moogy! The cover proclaims that this is the "first album of electronic rock" – and although we don't know how true that is, the record's a nice batch of moogy covers – featuring tracks like "Grazin In the Grass", "Aquarius", "Penn ... LP, Vinyl record album

Good Vibrations
RCA/Victor, 1969. Very Good
Pre-moog work from Hugo Montenegro – but a set that's still pretty darn groovy! The Beach Boys reference in the title is very well put, as Hugo's using some cool harmony vocals for the record – a chorus that definitely takes some of its inspiration from Brian Wilson, singing here both ... Great lost work from Ornette Coleman – material recorded in New York and LA during the years 1959 through 1961 – never issued at the time, but pulled together in this wonderful package at the start of the 70s! Although not recorded as an official album, the record stands easily with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Fantastic! The lost link in the Chicago soul scene of the 60s was Baby Huey – and he was a pretty darn big link too, if you've ever seen him in pictures! Weighing in at about 300 pounds, Baby Huey was sort of a rockin' soul star who played clubs on both sides of the city, to audiences of ... LP, Vinyl record album
