CD

More soul than disco overall – but with more than enough groove to get heavy play on an 80s-styled dancefloor! Once again this great series brings back a host of heavy cuts from back in the days – post-disco numbers from those key early 80s years when soul started to cross over big again – thanks to catchy grooves like these! Titles include "Joy" by Teddy Pendergrass, "Love's Dance (12" version)" by Klique, "Reach Out" by George Duke, "Step By Step (ext rmx)" by Jeff Lorber with Audrey Wheeler, "What Does It Take (ext mix)" by Kenny G, "Some Kind Of Lover (12" ext)" by Jody Watley, "Sixty Thrills A Minute" by Mystic Merlin, "Break Up" by High Fashion, "Hangin On A String" by Loose Ends, "If You Love Me Just A Little (12" version)" by La La, "Love The One" by Melba Moore & Kashif, "Freak A Zoid" by Midnight Star, "Seventh Heaven (Larry Levan rmx)" by Gwen Guthrie, "State Of Attraction (12" version)" by Rhonda Clark, "Show Me Where You're Coming From" by Carrie Lucas, "Too Many Games" by Maze, "Love Town" by Booker Newberry III, "You'll Be Mine (12" version)" by Instant Funk, and "Serious" by Serious Intention.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Classic funk all the way through – a killer collection of some of the best-remembered tracks from the 70s – all of which still have a hell of a lot of power all these many years later! This isn't a batch of obscure funky 45s, but nor is it the top 40 hits of the soul charts either ... CD

Not a set of world music-inflected jazz – although there is a bit of that – and instead, a wonderful collection of spiritual numbers from around the world – most recorded in the 70s, at a time when barriers were really breaking down in jazz music! All tracks here are nice and ... CD

Earth Wind & Fire

Gratitude
Columbia, 1975. Used
Great stuff! Although a live album, Gratitude is one of Earth Wind & Fire's greatest from the mid 70s – a very tight batch of grooves that proves that Maurice White & Co. could play just as well on stage as they could in the studio – and the noise of the crowd going wild is ... CD

Lisa Stansfield

Affection
Arista, 1990. Used
Big bouncing soul from Lisa Stansfield – a record that almost rivaled the first effort from Soul II Soul for UK impact on the American mainstream! Despite a pasty-white cover, the record's got a hell of a lot of color – some rich rhythms that reintroduced a syncopated funky sound to ... CD
