Jimmy Dean's Christmas Card

LP (Item 890934) Columbia, 1965 — Condition: Sealed
A Columbia Records country classic – from the glory days of the 60s Christmas record scene! Seems like just about everyone got a chance to cut a set for the Holidays back in that decade – and Jimmy Dean's time in the studio is surprisingly great – set to slight arrangements from Don Sebesky that have slight country touches, but maybe a bit more conventional pop for the season – with Jim singing in this warmly mellow mode that's not too far from the territory of Bing Crosby, especially in the way he rumbles down in the lower end of his register. Our favorite tracks are the originals – "Jimmy's Christmas Card" and "Yes Patricia There Is A Santa Claus" – penned by Dean with Don Sebesky – and other tracks include "Blue Christmas", "White Christmas", "My Christmas Room", "The Cowboy's Prayer", and "Silver Bells".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
