Best Of Electric Flag (Columbia)

LP (Item 872469) Columbia, Late 60s — Condition: Near Mint-
(Early 70s issue. Cover has a cut corner and is slightly curled at the seams.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Gonna Take A Miracle
Columbia, 1971. Very Good+
A tremendous album from Laura Nyro – a real return to the soulful style of her roots, thanks to help from Labelle on backing vocals, and the team of Gamble & Huff on production! If Nyro only ever gave the world this record, that would more than be enough – because the whole thing's ... LP, Vinyl record album

A slightly different sound than previously from The Flock – a set that brings in some sweet Hammond organ to the group's mix of jazzy horns and freewheeling guitar and violin – all in a way that even makes the whole thing better than before! The organ is never too jamming, but used at ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rock & Other Four Letter Words
Columbia, Late 60s. Sealed Gatefold
Wild stuff! This album's beyond description – sort of a mix of the baroque instrumental arrangements of David Axelrod, and the tape/musique concrete grooves of Jon Appleton, with some of the hippiness of the work of Galt MacDermot – but still very different than all of them! The ... LP, Vinyl record album

Blonde On Blonde
Columbia, 1966. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
A landmark album from the mighty Bob Dylan – a 2LP set of studio work, which was quite rare at the time – and a set that has Dylan stretching out all his creative powers in newly different directions! The album had a long genesis in the studio – some early work with The Band, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Moby Grape

Truly Fine Citizen
Columbia, 1969. Near Mint-
A truly fine Moby Grape effort from the tail end of the 60s – featuring loads of rubbery rock grooves – and one of the more songwriting centered efforts from the Grape catalog! Ides Of March

Vehicle
Warner, 1970. Very Good+
These guys will forever be known for the jazzy grooving title hit – "Vehicle", a brassy driving number that seems as if it's always being used in some sort of car commercial (which must net these guys a lot of royalties!) – but which is usually mistaken by others for being the ...
