Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Casablanca, 1976. Used
An oft-overlooked gem from Parliament – released during the year 1976, and sometimes hidden between monster LPs like Funkentelechy and Mothership Connection – but every bit as great as those two classics! The album's got that tightened-up P-Funk sound that was working so perfectly at ... CD
Philadelphia International, 1980. Used
One of the most compelling later albums on Philly International – a killer mix of jazzy numbers that have a very different style than most of the other Philly work at the time! Even though Leon Huff had been banging around in soul music for about 15 years – most famously as half of the ... CD

Melba Moore

Lot Of Love
Capitol, 1986. Used
Crisp, warm, and nicely-grooving soul from Melba Moore – one of her most consistent albums of the period, and possibly the biggest hit of career! The team of writers and producers on the album is top-shelf – with work from Kashif, Paul Lawrence, Gene McFadden, and others – who ... CD

Mary Davis

Separate Ways
Tabu, 1990. Used
Bouncy, beat-heavy soul from Mary Davis – a set that's almost got a new jack vibe at times, thanks to the dynamic energy of the production! Mary's voice has its own sense of power that really matches the groove – and the shift is a nice late Tabu extension of the label's previous modes ... CD

O'Jays

Love Fever
Philadelphia International, 1985. Used
One of the last albums from the legendary Philly International run by the O'Jays – recorded in a style that clearly shows influences from the 80s modes of the time, but which also still lets the group sparkle nicely on trademark harmonies! Even though Love Fever starts out a bit clunky ... CD
Trans/FTG, 1982. Used
Sweet 80s groove from La Voyage – a group with a nice, lean sound – upbeat, but never too over the top! There's a bit more depth here than usual for an indie group of this nature – not just tracks aimed at the clubs, but some mellower soul numbers that almost feel like they're ... CD
FTG, 1987. Used
Rare 80s soul from Al Broomfield – a nice little modern soul set with lots of groovy keys and soulful vocals from Broomfield! Broomfield is a sweetly grooving set with the bubbling synthy touches of the era in full force, with a warmth and genuine soul that keeps it fresh years later. The ... CD

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes

Blue Notes & Ballads
Philadelphia International/Sony, Early 70s. Used
Sublime ballad work from Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes – material that easily represents the greatest side of their talents from the Philly International years! Although the group charted biggest with their groovers, we've always loved their mellower tunes best – and this CD is ... CD
