Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Unk In Funk
Chess/Get On Down, 1974. Used
Muddy Waters definitely put the "unk" in funk – although back in his day, the word meant something different than in the 70s! This set features some great late Muddy for Chess – produced in conjunction with Ralph Bass, Muddy's longtime associate in the studio, and done with a ... CD
Nighthawk, Late 40s/Early 50s. Used
Great work from the Chicago blues underground – rare tracks pulled from a time before labels like Chess and Vee Jay handled most of the big artists, and talents were spread between a handful of much smaller indies! The music here marks that key Chicago transition from rural to urban – ... CD
Mamlish, Late 40s/Early 50s. Used
A killer collection of rare blues from the Mamlish label – an imprint who brings the same sort of historical sensitivity that you might now from collections on Yazoo Records! As with that company, the music here is mostly pulled from vintage 78s, and given fresh presentation for a whole new ... CD
Southern Routes, Late 50s/Early 60s. Used 2 CDs

Muddy Waters

Elevate Me Mama
Black Knight (Poland), 1950s. Used

Lonnie Johnson with Victoria Spivey

Idle Hours
Prestige/Bluesville, 1961. Used
Beautiful late work from Lonnie Johnson – recorded decades after his bigger years on record, but handled with great care by Prestige Records, during the brief run of its Bluesville imprint! Like most of the rest of the sides at the time, the approach here is to make an older mode live again ... CD

Losing Game
Prestige/Bluesville, 1961. Used
... CD
Tabu (UK), 1984. Used
Just the way we like it from SOS Band – tight, but never too uptight – grooving, but never too over the top either – and with plenty of room for mellower moments that really round the album out nicely! The set's got SOS right at the height of their famous run for Tabu Records ... CD
Suss'd/Salsoul (UK), Late 70s/Early 80s. Used
Salsoul mellow? Believe it or not, the famous disco label had some great chilled-out moments – still as funky as their best clubby tracks, but grooving in a nicely laidback way! The set's one of the most unique collections of Salsoul work we've ever heard – and one of the freshest ... CD
