A great Sonny Clark album – and very different than any of his other work! The album was recorded live at a private party in 1954, not issued until the mid 70s – and it features Sonny playing in a trio format, in a relaxed setting that has a bit more of an exploratory feel than some of his straighter work. The groove is nice and mellow, with Sonny taking the lead over a thrown-together rhythm section.
