An early moment of Smash Records genius from Jerry Lee Lewis – a set that was one of his first for the label, after many years at Sun – and a record that definitely sought to leave the new imprint's stamp on the material! As the title implies, most of the tracks are older hits by Jerry – Sun Records material, but recast here with some of the 60s fullness that Smash did so well – although oddly not far from the roots of Sun, given that the whole thing was recorded at the Nashville studios of Sam Phillips, with Billy Sherrill at the engineering deck! Technical details aside, though – Jerry's already starting to show some of those country modes that would set fire to the second chapter of his career – on titles that include "Down The Line", "End Of The Road", "Break Up", "You Win Again", "Crazy Arms", "Fools Like Me", and "I'll Make It Up To You". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
