❔
The 2LP set that brought together material that was later issued on the Monk In Italy and Monk In France albums – landmark live sides from a 1961 European tour! The set features the killer 60s Monk quartet with Charlie Rouse, John Ore and Fark Dunlop. 18 tracks in all, including "Epistrophy", "Jackie-ing", "Body & Soul", "Off Minor", "Rhythm-a-ning", "Straight No Chaser", "Bemsha Swing", "Well You Needn't", and "Crepuscle With Nellie".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Late 60s issue. Cover has light wear and a small cutout hole.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Thelonious Himself
Riverside, 1957. Very Good
A classic outing of solo piano by Thelonious Monk – a format that wasn't used often, but which always made for some really compelling work! Monk.
Columbia, 1964. Very Good+
Beautiful Columbia work from Thelonious Monk – a record that has as much warmth and charm as it does visionary modernist moments!
