This image is a general representation of the item and the actual product may differ slightly in terms of color shading, logo placement, borders, or other small details. Used items may have various cosmetic differences as well.
Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A late songbook entry for Oscar Peterson, and a great one too – a record that really has Peterson setting fire to a host of classic Jerome Kern compositions, in his legendary trio with Ray Brown on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums! Thigpen's unique rhythmic conception brings a lot to the record ... LP, Vinyl record album
Oscar Peterson works his magic on the score to My Fair Lady – giving the whole set of tunes a personal, intimate feel that takes them way past their Broadway roots – yet which also avoids sounding too much like Shelly Manne's session of the same name! The group here features Ray Brown ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great early example of the genius of mixing guitar with the piano of Oscar Peterson – a move that might have been inspired by the success of Ahmad Jamal, but which works equally well for Peterson's sound on the keys! The tracks here feature either Herb Ellis or Irving Ashby on guitar ... LP, Vinyl record album
The West Side Story score – but handled here by the great Oscar Peterson Trio – in ways that really push the tunes past their Broadway roots! The approach is tight, soulful, and filled with strong lines from Peterson on piano – plus bass by Ray Brown and drums from Ed Thigpen ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the lesser-remembered Oscar Peterson songbooks of the 50s Verve years – but also one of the best, too. The freshness of some of the Jimmy McHugh tunes on the album gives the record a bit less of the staid feel of some of Peterson's other efforts of this nature – and although the ... A bold brilliant statement from pianist Steve Kuhn – his next great record after the seminal Three Waves, and a record that pushes the envelope even further! From the title, you might think that Kuhn's playing some familiar 60s standards for MPS – but he's really working strongly in ... LP, Vinyl record album
A wonderful album from guitarist Jim Hall – different than some of his other work, and with a slightly harder edge! The unique session has him playing in an MPS 60s mode – more straight-on than some of his more airy moments – with a sound and tone that still recalls his work with ... LP, Vinyl record album
U.S. double LP reissue of two great sides of hard swinging, hard grooving jazz by the great Clark-Boland Big Band. This is some of the best European jazz to be recorded in the late 60's, and one of the best ways to hear "lost" geniuses like Benny Bailey, Sahib Shihab, Jimmy Woode, Shake ... LP, Vinyl record album
A later MPS session that features some incredibly mellow guitar/bass duets between Gene Bertoncini and Michael Moore. Bertoncini's guitar is at the forefront, and Moore's playing is mostly to back him up as he solos virtuostically on titles like "Pavane", "Pensativa", "Elea ... LP, Vinyl record album
A tremendous European meeting of tenorist Dexter Gordon and trombonist Slide Hampton – brought together in this impeccable sextet session for MPS – a real standout in the label's straight jazz catalog over the years! By the time of the set, Gordon had been working heavily in Europe, ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of the all-time classic MPS sessions! Erwin Lehn leads a very tight grooving combo that mixes hard big group arrangements (in the style of the Clarke-Boland or Peter Herbholzheimer groups), with some extremely powerful solos and very inventive arrangements. There's lots of wonderful little ... LP, Vinyl record album
