Prima Show In The Casbar

LP (Item 636204) Prima Magnagroove, 1963 — Condition: Near Mint-
An unusual chapter in the career of Louis Prima – a post-Keely show, with vocals by Gia Maione!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono black label pressing, in fantastic shape!)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Columbia, Mid 60s. Sealed
One of Tony Bennett's most fantastic albums from the 60s, and a record that features some nice jazzy arrangements that push past the usual heavy studio ones. Dinah Washington

In The Land Of Hi Fi
EmArcy, 1956. Near Mint-
The Hi Fi in the title might imply that there's a bit more going on here arrangement-wise than on some of Dinah's other albums – but the scoring by Hal Mooney is still pretty straight, in a sophisticated jazzy mode that works best with the vocals, and which never overwhelms the singing for ... Jackie & Roy

Glory Of Love
ABC, 1956. Near Mint-
One of our favorite albums by the team of Jackie & Roy – a really special little set that features small combo backing, great tunes, and some of the best vocals of their early career! The album features Roy playing piano in a quartet with Barry Galbraith on guitar, Milt Hinton on bass, ... LP, Vinyl record album
AVA/DRG, 1963. Near Mint-
Great work by a great singer – the far under-recorded Irene Kral, a lovely lady who really bridges a number of different camps in the vocal jazz world! At one level, Irene's got the coolness of a Christy or Connor, but at another, she's got a more open, swinging, and soulful style – ... LP, Vinyl record album

A&M, 1967. Near Mint-
French pop meets LA production – and the result is some of the best work ever recorded by A&M Records – a gently groovy, slightly sexy sound that really helped define the label in its early years! Singers Unlimited

Feeling Free
MPS, 1975. Near Mint-
Possibly the grooviest of many groovy albums that the Singers Unlimited cut for MPS – largely because of some great arrangements by Pat Williams! Pat gives the group a nice little zip – with some large jazzy arrangements that aren't too goofy, and which work well with their perfect ... LP, Vinyl record album

Echoes Of An Era 2 – The Concert
Elektra, 1982. Near Mint-
Not only a great follow-up to the first Echoes Of An Era session, but also a standout 80s performance from Nancy Wilson – quite possibly her best of the decade! The setting is nice and laidback – a live date with a core combo that features Joe Henderson on tenor, Chick Corea on piano, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Verve, 1959. Near Mint-
Very cool work from Anita O'Day – a session cut with Jimmy Giuffre arrangements, in a style that's a bit different than some of her other 50s work for Verve! Jimmy brings a nice touch of modernism to the record – casting the horns in ways that show his own love of creative colors and ... LP, Vinyl record album
