Milk & Honey

LP (Item 608271) Polydor, 1984 — Condition: Very Good+
Gatefold
The second album released of material from the Double Fantasy sessions – released in 1984, years after John's murder, and record we can easily admit having a lot of affection for all these years later! The production has something of a rough, unfinished vibe to it – yet fairly conventional in instrumentation – with John's to-the-point lyricism working pretty well in that setting. Yoko's eccentric vocals – sometimes plaintive and intimate and at other points in a ghostly echo sound better on this record than she's ever been given credit for. Tender, affectionate John & Yoko – quite appropriate given the time of release and sad circumstances. Includes "I'm Stepping Out", "Sleepless Night", "I Don't Wanna Face It", "Don't Be Scared", "Nobody Told Me", "O'Sanity", "Borrowed Time", "Your Time", "Let Me Count The Ways", "You're The One" and more.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Zapple, 1968. Very Good
Yoko shows her Fluxus roots on this album of trippy experimental stuff. Side one is a live piece called "Cambridge 1969", which is performed by John and Yoko, with the help of avant jazzmen John Tchicai and John Stevens. Lots of noisy guitar on that one. Side 2 features a number of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ronnie James Dio's final album fronting Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow – and one of the better albums from that 70s hard rock/proto metal behemoth! It's got 2 tracks per side, each with a shorter song and a more epic rocker – lumbering, catchy, and heavy rock that's a helluva lot of fun ... LP, Vinyl record album

John Mayall

Back To The Roots
Polydor, 1971. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
John Mayall's definitely getting back to his roots here – and he's also getting help from an all-star cast as well! Mayall's vocals and piano are in fine form – almost with a rough-edged Blues Breakers sort of vibe, but sometimes a bit funkier too – in ways that strongly show the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Barclay James Harvest

Everyone Is Everybody Else
Polydor, 1974. Near Mint-
A nice lean set from Barclay James Harvest – a record that gets more to the core of their sound after the larger arrangements of some of their albums for Harvest Records – in a way that also seems to bring out more of an edge in their songwriting, too! The shift is somewhat subtle, but ... LP, Vinyl record album

Phil Manzanera/801

Listen Now
Polydor (UK), 1977. Very Good+
Quite possibly the best of the solo Phil Manzanera projects – a wonderfully tight album that's surprisingly soulful and funky at times! Phil gets some great studio help from Eno and Godley & Creme – the latter two of who can really be felt on the record's well-penned lyrical ... LP, Vinyl record album

Who

Quick One
Polydor, 1966. Near Mint-
Maybe the first true moment of genius from The Who – a record that shows that the group aren't just the usual mod rockers of the time – even though they were already pretty darn great in that format! Instead, there's all these little weird bits and odd themes going on – including ... LP, Vinyl record album
