Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Leo (UK), 1983. Used
One of the strongest Sun Ra albums in wide release during the 80s – a live set from Utrecht in 1983, done with a tightly-crafted sound that really focuses the energy of the group and displays their great range and capabilities in a number of modes! Most of the set is relatively inside, with ... CD
Evidence, 1960s/1970s. Used
It's hard to conceive of the idea of a "greatest hits" for Sun Ra – as none of his records even cracked the charts – but this set is a much-needed one that offers a strong sampling of Ra's rich body of work, summed up nicely by 18 tracks that over a keen picture of his unique ... CD
Magic Music (Germany), 1966. Used
One of the best non-Saturn Sun Ra albums of the 60s – material recorded live on a tour of New York colleges in 1966, and very much in a spirit that captures the Arkestra at their best! Longer tracks are juxtaposed nicely with shorter ones – in a way that has the group running very ... CD

Saturn/Evidence, Mid 50s/1960s/1970s/Early 80s. Used 2 CDs

Impulse, 1972. Used
A brilliant record by Sun Ra & The Arkestra – and an album that forever gave them a slogan to live by! The record's different than some of the other Arkestra work from the time – in that it's a bit tighter and more spiritual, more in keeping with the style of the Blue Thumb label, ... CD

Freddie Hubbard

Sweet Return
Atlantic (Germany), 1983. Used
A definite sweet return from Freddie Hubbard – a record with a cover and title that might appear to be smooth jazz, but one with a sound that's solidly acoustic and soulful all the way through! The album's a great example of Hubbard's amazing work in the early 80s – a time when he was ... CD
Blue Note, 1965. Used
One of Bobby Hutcherson's most important albums ever – and an essential piece of "new thing" jazz that ranks up there with such key Blue note sessions of the genre as Tony Williams' album Life Time, Dolphy's Out To Lunch, and Jackie McLean's One Step Beyond! Hutcherson's sound on ... CD

Milt Jackson

Sunflower
CTI, 1972. Used
Proof that Milt Jackson was easily the hippest member of the Modern Jazz Quartet – and one of the few who could really open up into different sounds away from that combo! This sweet 70s set for CTI is totally great – a whole new chapter for Jackson's vibes, and a real re-setting of the ... CD
