Rolf Ericson & His All American Stars (plus bonus tracks)
CD (Item 576647) EmArcy/Fresh Sound (Spain), 1956 — Condition: Used
A key American album from trumpeter Rolf Ericson – a player with roots in the Swedish scene, but one who also made some big waves on the west coast during the 50s! Although Rolf was living in the US at the time of the date, the set was actually recorded in Sweden, on a tour of that nation – with a killer group that features Cecil Payne on baritone, Duke Jordan on piano, Art Taylor on drums, and John Simmons on bass – a tight little quintet who give Ericson's trumpet one of its greatest settings on record so far! There's a nice dark edge to some of the best numbers – most of which are originals by members of the group – and titles include "Forecast", "Vacker Flicka", "Visby Groove Alley", "Flight To Jordan", a medley of "I Cover The Waterfront"/"Laura"/"Everything Happens To Me", and "This Time The Dream's On Me". CD also features 5 bonus tracks recorded live by Ericson in Sweden from the same year, but with a different group – Lars Gullin on baritone, Freddie Redd on piano, Tommy Potter on bass, Joe Harris on drums, and a bit of vocals from Ernestine Anderson – on titles that include "A Foggy Day", "I Got It Bad", "Love For Sale", and "Lover Man". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
