Witch Hunt

LP (Item 518401) JA Records, 1975 — Condition: Near Mint-
(€4.02 || £3.54 || ¥529) (approx.)

...

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Jamey Aebersold, Early 70s. Very Good+
An early version of this one – with either Chuck Marohnic or David Lahm on piano, Don Baldwin or Tyrone Brown on bass, and Stan Gage or Charlie Craig on drums. LP, Vinyl record album
Killer Joe
Columbia, 1977. Very Good+
A fantastic album from tenor legend Benny Golson – one in which he reinvents his sound for the 70s, but still keeps all the tight sense of arrangement we loved in his earlier work! Benny's going for a funky jazz groove on most cuts – a bit clubby, in a Kudu Records mode – with a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Inner City, 1976. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
One of Sun Ra's best non-Saturn live sets of the 70s – a nice little record that shows the group mixing it up with equal parts avant garde and straight ahead jazz, all handled in that ever-growing large group style that made them a real force to be reckoned with in a concert setting! The ... LP, Vinyl record album

CTI, 1976. Very Good- Gatefold
The 4th in Bob James legendary run of Fender Rhodes classics for CTI – and a record that still has him working with the dark edges that made the first few so great! Verve, 1964. Very Good Gatefold
A real treasure, and a record that may well be our favorite Jimmy Smith album for Verve – a masterful meeting of his smoking Hammond work with some swingingly sophisticated arrangements by Oliver Nelson and Claus Ogerman! Basie's In The Bag
Brunswick, 1967. Very Good-
Count Basie's definitely in the bag on this one – not so much as strong of a jazz bag as in classic years, but instead this very cool blend of soul and funk styles with his Kansas City roots! The record should be thought of more as a hip instrumental album – kind of in the jaunty 60s ... LP, Vinyl record album
Right Tempo (Italy), 1993. Very Good+
A great little groover from the Italian scene – one of the first records that showed that the Italian groups were picking up some of the classic jazz and funk energy from the London scene! Casablanca, 1979. Very Good+
A sweet club classic from the soulful Parlet trio – one of the best George Clinton side projects during his legendary late 70s run – and a group who've continued to move plenty of dancefloors over the decades! Red Light
Mainstream, 1974. Very Good
Raw soul with a distinct bluesy sound that sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't.
