Avengers – Original Television Scores

LP (Item 451836) Starlog/Varese, 1960s/1982 — Condition: Very Good+
An excellent collection of great soundtrack numbers from British maestro Laurie Johnson! This set was pulled together in the early 80s, so it not only features numbers from the first run of the Avengers series, but also from the New Avengers, as well as a great batch from the Professionals series, too, all done in an excellent, sweeping orchestral style! 14 numbers in all, including the "Main Title", "Theme From Obsession", "Cat Amongst The Pigeons", "Theme From Joker", "Tale Of The Big Why", "Theme from Pandora", "Sleuthing", "On The Scent", "In Pursuit", 'Waiting And Ambush" and "On Target".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A surprisingly rich soundtrack for this famous Andy Warhol horror film – one of his key cinematic collaborations with Paul Morrissey! AVA, 1962. Near Mint-
Side one of this LP isn't much to write home about – dramatic orchestral music, written by Mark Lawrence, and conducted by Norman Paris – dark stuff to accompany the film in the title. Side two is great, though – jazzy "impressions" of the main themes, played by a group ... LP, Vinyl record album

A pretty tense score – especially for Lalo Schifrin, who we normally know for his groovier soundtracks! Lalo's working here in a mode that's quite like some of the best 70s Italian horror scores – lots of turgid orchestral passages moving slowly, with dramatic flourishes that are ...
