Singers Talkers Players Swingers & Doers

LP (Item 434205) Command, 1968 — Condition: Very Good+
Gatefold
These Hellers are pretty darn hip fellers – way more than just singers, talkers, players, swingers, and doers – and also experimentalists with a very groovy approach to their music! At one level, the record's got a dreamy pop feel that's very much in keeping with the album's inclusion on the Command label in the late 60s – but at another level, it's got some playful electronics and spoken word bits that remind us more of the cut-up commentary of Jon Appleton and his Syntonic Menagerie! The album was written by Dick Hamilton and produced by Hugh Heller – and it features a wide number of voices that float in and out of the mix in both spoken and sung passages – including a contributions from McLean Stevenson and Sally Stevens! There's plenty of moog and analogue electronics next to some groovier pop production – and titles include "The Elevator", "It's 74 In San Francisco", "And Now The News", "The Piano Lesson", "Take 46", "The Mist Of Time", "High Fly Ball", "The Mechanic", and "Life Story".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A tremendous little soundtrack – even if you've seen it a million times!
