Le Jazz Hot (10 inch LP)

LP (Item 408186) Angel, 1942 — Condition: Very Good
10 inch LP issue of sides that Django recorded with a larger group, we believe in Brussels in the early 40s. Titles include "Nuages", "Dynamism", "Djangology", "Distraction", "Only Tonight", "Minor Blues", and "Studio 24".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has clear tape on the top & bottom seams, light surface wear & aging.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Thelonious Monk

Unique Thelonious Monk
Riverside, 1956. Very Good+
The session's billed as "very personal treatments of great standards" – and it's a great twist on familiar material, all given the Thelonius touch! Return Of The 5000 Lb Man
Warner, 1975. Very Good+
A beautiful late chapter in the jazz journey of Rahsaan Roland Kirk – and an album of subtle genius that's really opened up to us over the years! The setting here isn't as "hit you over the head" as on some of Kirk's Atlantic Records – because at one level, the tunes are ... LP, Vinyl record album

Swingin On Coral Reef (10 inch LP)
Coral, 1953. Very Good+

Donald Byrd

Byrd In Hand
Blue Note, 1959. Very Good+
One of the best of Donald Byrd's early Blue Note albums – a sparkling set of hardbop tunes with a really souful edge! Mel Brown

Blues For We
Impulse, 1969. Very Good+ Gatefold
A record that's a lot more jazz than you'd guess from the title – a seminal set from the mighty Mel Brown! The "blues" here are hardly the familiar kind – and instead, the album really stresses the more soul-based sound of Mel Brown's work – thanks to some very groovy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dave Holland & Derek Bailey

Improvisations For Cello & Guitar
ECM (Germany), 1971. Near Mint-

John Coltrane

Blue Train
Blue Note, 1957. Very Good
John Coltrane's classic – and only – recording as a leader for Blue Note! The album's no throwaway date, though – as it stands strongly with both Coltrane's other label work of the time, and with the best of the late 50s Blue Note scene – a time when the label was really ...
