A great little record – and proof that Muhammad Ali was star material, even in his early years! The record is kind of in the spoken word mode – but has added music by Peter Katz – and features Ali delivering some of his famous poetic "zinger" type material, of the sort that would come to prominence even more strongly during the 70s, as Ali's fame and press presence rose. There's a brashness to his presentation that's totally great, and almost a precursor to more righteous male performance in 60s soul – and the titles of the tunes kind of say it all, and include "The Knockout", "I Have Written A Drama He Said Playfully", "Funny You Should Ask", "I Am The Greatest", and "I Am The Double Greatest". (Mono 2 eye pressing. Cover has some splitting on the bottom seam and a name in marker on back.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, or have one outstanding flaw, such as a light residue, which could be difficult to clean.
  • May have marks on all parts, too many to qualify as Very Good-, or several deeper marks, but the record should still be ok for play without skips.
  • In general, this is a record that was played a fair amount, and handled without care. A typical example may be a record which has been heavily played by a DJ, and carries marks from slip cueing. Depending on the quality of the vinyl, may play with surface noise throughout.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
