Dave Mason & Cass Elliot

LP (Item 361896) Blue Thumb, 1971 — Condition: Sealed
Gatefold

A really nice album from Dave Mason & Mama Cass – one that has Dave's vocals mostly in the lead, but which also brings him much closer in style to Mama's sweet and dreamy pop mode – a lovely little psychedelic folk pop record with soulful touches! The backing is mostly by a small combo, and the feel is alternately laidback and soaring – freed from the hits sound of early 70s LA, when some of the more creative work was coming out of the bigger stars. Titles include "Pleasing You", "On & On", "To Be Free", "Here We Go Again", "Walk To The Point", "Glittering Facade", and "Too Much Truth Too Much Love".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Sealed original pressing!)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Blue Thumb, Early 70s. Very Good+ Gatefold
Later work from Love, and more of an Arthur Lee record than a true group effort – but still pretty nice! Doolittle
4AD, 1989. Near Mint-
A defining moment for The Pixies and rock music in general! Doolittle somehow delivers on the rawer, artier promise of Surfer Rosa and Come On Pilgrim, while bringing in much more the irresistible catchiness that the earlier album(s) just hinted at. One of the greatest mainstream rock and roll debuts of all time – and a record that still blows away just about any other later work by The Pretenders!
