Swedish Punch

LP (Item 176691) Metronome (Sweden), 1959 — Condition: Very Good+
One of those Metronome classics from a time when the Swedish jazz scene was really catching fire! The set features a full complement of work from the great American trumpeter Benny Bailey – who was making big waves on the Scandia scene at the time – plus work from Ake Persson on trombone, Bjarne Nerem on tenor, Rune Ofwerman on piano, Lennart Jansson on baritone, Rune Gustafsson on guitar, Arne Domnerus on on alto, and Torbjorn Hultrantz on bass. Arrangements are by Melba Liston on many tracks too!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Vintage pressing, in a flipback cover! Back cover has a small sticker and a small rip, and front has a stereo sticker.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Atlantic, 1973. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
A super-long batch of messed-up funky jazz from Eddie Harris! Future Shock
Columbia, 1983. Near Mint-
The future is now! Or at least it seemed to be back in 1983 when Herbie teamed up with Bill Laswell to record this classic album of computer-driven keyboard grooves! Ellington Suites

Three slices of rare work by Duke Ellington – all recorded previously as semi-private recordings, and issued here in a short-lived 70s set! Unique Thelonious Monk
Riverside, 1956. Very Good+
The session's billed as "very personal treatments of great standards" – and it's a great twist on familiar material, all given the Thelonius touch!
