Farewell Space Battleship Yamato – Warriors of Love Drama Edition

LP (Item 172828) Columbia (Japan), 1978 — Condition: Near Mint-
2LP
Way more than just another anime soundtrack – as this set features dialog from the film too!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Akiko Yano

Ai Ga Nakucha Ne
Midi (Japan), 1986. Near Mint-
A really fantastic album from the great Akiko Yano – a set recorded in London with help from a whole host of great talents, all of whom make for a record that's even catchier and groovier than some of her work in Japan! Ryuichi Sakamoto co-produced and arranged the record, and really helped ... LP, Vinyl record album

Lalo Schifrin

Amityville Horror
Casablanca, 1979. Near Mint-
A pretty tense score – especially for Lalo Schifrin, who we normally know for his groovier soundtracks! Lalo's working here in a mode that's quite like some of the best 70s Italian horror scores – lots of turgid orchestral passages moving slowly, with dramatic flourishes that are ... Johnny Williams/Dory & Andre Previn

Valley Of The Dolls
20th Century, 1967. Very Good+
A great little soundtrack – as campy as the film it was written for – and a record that's gone on to be one of the touchstone soundtracks of the 60s! Some of the tunes are more straight numbers by Johnny Williams – a bit dreamy, but with some nice easy touches – but the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dizzy Gillespie/Mal Waldron

Cool World
Philips, 1963. Very Good
A brilliant little soundtrack from Dizzy Gillespie – composed by Mal Waldron, and played by Diz with a sound and sensitivity that few of his other 60s albums can match! The feel here is quite bold and righteous – a perfect accompaniment for the documentary-like black and white images ... LP, Vinyl record album

Charles Fox/Barry Manilow

Foul Play
Arista, 1978. Very Good+
A movie that's so familiar, we sometimes forget the greatness of its soundtrack! True, the film did give the world a few big hits from Barry Manilow, but the instrumental score by Charles Fox is mighty nice – a great blend of 70s cop/crime modes with a few tenser moments – orchestrated ...
