This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Surprisingly nice stuff – especially considering that the album was one in a string of Previn piano sessions for Contemporary – all based around Broadway themes as part of the success of his My Fair Lady date with Shelly Manne! This set still features Manne on drums – and Red ... LP, Vinyl record album
These days, pianist Billy Tipton is somewhat of a legend – largely because "he", was actually a "she", masquerading as a man, and making a name for her/himself as a moody interpreter of standards. Billy's talents on the keys are certainly not enough to get him remembered ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the few cases in jazz where an oft-played classic still resonates with power! The record itself is a key cap to Miles Davis' already-groundbreaking years of the 60s – a bold step forward, not just for his nascent electric sound, but also for jazz in general – and the benchmark ... LP, Vinyl record album
Way nicer than some of Milt's earlier work – and one of the gems he recorded with bassist Ray Brown during the late 60s. The group's got a tight soul jazz stepping groove – with Monty Alexander on piano, comping along right over Ray's warm basslines in a very tasty way. Teddy Edwards ... LP, Vinyl record album
Two classic Eric Dolphy albums – back to back in a single set! First up us Outward Bound – Eric Dolphy's first album ever as a leader – recorded almost immediately after his arrival on the New York scene! The sound here is already bolder and stronger than the Dolphy experiments ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the greatest Cannonball Adderley albums from the Riverside years – a completely smoking live date recorded in San Francisco, often with long tracks that really let the group open up and do their thing! The lineup here is that classic one that first grabbed attention – the group ... LP, Vinyl record album
A pretty interesting album – one in which a host of jazz and rock players pay set music to texts written by consciousness-raiser/sci-fi author Ishmael Reed. There's a few goofy moments on the set, but if you've read Reed's work, you'll also know that goofiness and oddity are part of the ... LP, Vinyl record album
A beautiful set of hardbop tracks from this vastly underrated trumpeter! The session was originally recorded for the Signal label, but appears here in a Savoy issue, put out a few years after the original. Rodney is in perfect form here, hitting his stride during this comeback period, and playing ... LP, Vinyl record album
With grooves this great, the house must have been full – and the album's a gem of an early live date by Wes Montgomery, recorded in Berkeley with a quartet that includes Johnny Griffin on tenor, Wynton Kelly on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Jimmy Cobb on drums! The tunes have a nicely ... LP, Vinyl record album
A really hip record from the team of bassist Ray Brown and vibist Milt Jackson – a swinging large group record that has them fronting arrangements from Oliver Nelson and Jimmy Heath! Nelson and Heath are both mighty hip cats at this point in their career – and bring a soulful swing to ... LP, Vinyl record album
Classic work from Texas R&B pianist Lloyd Glenn – a great talent with a heavy-handed style that cut some sublime mellow groovers during the 50s. The album features tracks from Glenn's Aladdin and Score recordings – all cut with small group backing, and featuring players like Jack ... LP, Vinyl record album
