Soaring work from Japanese pianist Fumio Karashima – a talent we loved back in the 70s, and who still sounds pretty great here! Fumio's playing in a loose trio with Jack DeJohnette on drums and Drew Gress on bass – working through longish tracks that recall the sound of his earlier work, but which also show a bit more of an ear for gentler sounds and introspection.
