Sounds Of Now

LP (Item 127038) Dual Planet (Australia), 1960s/1970s — Condition: Near Mint-
Sounds of now, circa yesterday – a very cool collection of 60s and 70s electronic work from Eric Siday – presented in these great short sound cues! The tracks are pretty brief, but very cool in that respect – and almost work like little electronic poems, or light whimsical melodies – which are sometimes mixed with spookier bits too. The work fits well as themes or commercials – but often has that undercurrent of darkness that we like in Siday's music too. Titles include "Logo Gogo", "Bubbling Under", "Automobile", "Kitchen Concerto", "Christmassy", "Bell Tune", "Helicopter Eyeview", "Winter Sports", "Jazz Cellar", and "Record Club".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Circle Of Light
Trunk (UK), 1972. Near Mint-
A really unusual project from electronic music legend Delia Derbyshire – sounds that were created for a film of abstract photographic images, but which work beautifully here on their own! Valley Of The Dolls
20th Century, 1967. Very Good+
A great little soundtrack – as campy as the film it was written for – and a record that's gone on to be one of the touchstone soundtracks of the 60s! Some of the tunes are more straight numbers by Johnny Williams – a bit dreamy, but with some nice easy touches – but the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cool World
Philips, 1963. Very Good
A brilliant little soundtrack from Dizzy Gillespie – composed by Mal Waldron, and played by Diz with a sound and sensitivity that few of his other 60s albums can match! Lalo Schifrin

Sol Madrid
MGM, Late 60s. Sealed
A pretty darn rare Lalo Schifrin soundtrack – to a lost crime thriller that starred David McCallum, Stella Stevens, and Telly Savalas – all of whom are pictured in a nice collage-type movie painting on the front cover!
