❔
Can't get enough of Barry White at this key point in his career – a time when he was stepping from the shadows as one of the most sensuous soul stars of the 70s! The album's a near-perfect effort throughout – a great blend of the soaring strings and funkier rhythms that always made Barry's work so great – topped with vocals that are both sung and spoken, all in a voice that's deeper than deep! Tracks intertwine nicely – almost sharing similar themes at points – and although not penned as a "soul symphony", the album certainly comes across like one. Titles include "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Babe", "Oh Love Well We Finally Made It", "Mellow Mood (parts 1 & 2)", "You're The First The Las, My Everything", and "I Can't Believe You Love Me".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Is This Whatcha Wont?
20th Century, 1976. Very Good+
Kind of a confrontational title, but still an excellent batch of grooves from The Maestro, with heavenly production, and lots of long drawn-out sexy grooves. Cuts include "Don't Make Me Wait Too Long", "I'm Qualified To Satisfy You", "Your Love – So Good I Can't Take ... LP, Vinyl record album

Love Unlimited Orchestra

My Sweet Summer Suite
20th Century, 1976. Very Good
A wonderful album by Barry White – a bit later than some of the early 70s hits, but one of his most satisfying records overall! The perpetual favorite on the album is the great groover "Strange Games & Things", a slow sly funky track that's been sampled often over the years, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sydney Joe Qualls

So Sexy
20th Century, 1979. Near Mint-
An incredible blend of southern and modern soul – the second album by soul songwriter Sydney Joe Qualls, recorded in both Chicago and Muscle Shoals, with a stone mellow sound that's outta site! The groove here is extremely well-done – tight, but never too slick – and with a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Love Unlimited Orchestra

Super Movie Themes
20th Century, 1979. Near Mint-
An album of theirs that you don't see that often – with Barry White's takes on popular movie hits. Some of this veers a little to close to the cheesy side of things, but it's worth it for the "Theme From King Kong" alone, an uptempo funk number that has a great almost afro-funk ... 20th Century, 1965. Very Good+
Sure, Esther Phillips and a few other 60s soul singers were recording Beatles tracks – but Mary Wells was the real deal, as she even had the support of the group itself, who made it known that she was one of their favorite American soul artists. This nice album on 20th Century features an ... LP, Vinyl record album
NPG/Legacy, 2010. Sealed 2LP Gatefold
A really fantastic album from Prince – recorded in 2010, and unreleased at the time – but clearly one of the greatest things he gave us in the final decade of his life! This isn't uncooked demo material, or under-thought studio tracks – and instead, the whole thing is a fully-form ... LP, Vinyl record album

Prince

Universal, 2006. Sealed 2LP
A strong effort from the mid 00s revitalized Prince – one that doesn't approach the greatness of the best material, but a graceful and consistent gem nonetheless! As it was done on his big ol' comeback album, Musicology, Prince takes strides to revisit his classic styles on the different ... LP, Vinyl record album
Philadelphia International, 1975. Very Good+ Gatefold
Killer stuff from this legendary Philly soul instrumental combo – with funky soul horns, unstoppable dancefloor ready rhythms and those soul-stirring strings – and right up there with their best ever! Bobby Martin arranged almost every track – and the record's a great example of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Songstress
Beverly Glen, 1983. Near Mint- Gatefold
From the female singer in the obscure group Chapter 8, Anita went onto become one of the biggest selling soul music acts during the 80s – and this album's her first effort as a solo act. The record's a smooth sophisticated batch of soul tunes, with lots of nice jazzy touches, and a classy ... LP, Vinyl record album
Cotillion, Early 60s/1970. Near Mint-
A 1970 compilation of rare tracks from the Old Town label – one of the smaller New York imprints of the early 60s, home to some fantastic minor soul hits, and killer doo wop material! Tracks include "So Fine" by The Fiestas, "Crazy Love" by The Royal Tones, "Chicken ... LP, Vinyl record album
