Sugarhill Gang8th Wonder/Sugar Hill Groove ... 12-inch
Sugar Hill, 1980. Near Mint- ... $6.99 9.99
A lively little groover from the Sugarhill Gang – one based around the excellent "Daisy Lady" sample from 7th Wonder! The track makes great use of the original's brassy horns – inflecting a bright, almost Latiny finish on the tune – all to set the stage for some great rhymes from the crew! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Sugar Hill sleeve.)

Sugar Hill, 1979. Very Good+ ... Just Sold Out!
One of the first really important full length albums in hip hop – the set that really pushed the Sugar Hill label into the major leagues, and helped show the world that rap music was definitely way more than just a New York phenomenon! The set features the group's classic "Rapper's Delight", edited down into a shorter mix than the 15 minute 12" single – which helped the track get plenty of radio and chart play – and the set features core instrumentation from the trio of Doug Wimbush on bass, Keith LeBlanc on drums, and Skip McDonald on guitar. The Sequence also make a guest appearance, Positive Force help out on a few cuts – and titles include "Rapper's Delight", "Here I Am", "Rapper's Reprise", "Bad News", "Passion Play", and the long funky "Sugarhill Groove". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original gatefold pressing with Sterling stamp. Cover has light wear.)

✨✧ Furious Five Meets The Sugarhill GangShowdown (vocal, inst) ... 12-inch
Sugar Hill, 1981. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The "showdown...all the way live between the Sugarhill gang and the Furious Five". A nice early Furious Five cut that someone has sampled recently. And while were not the biggest Sugarhill Gang fans, they do alright on this cut with the Furious Five, who we suspect actually wrote the Sugarhill Gang's rhymes on this one. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Sugar Hill/Rhino, Late 70s-Mid 80s. New Copy 2LP ... Out Of Stock
A masterclass in early rap from Sugar Hill Records – touchstone classics that thumped dancefloors from the early days to today, inspired the scene's kings and queens to follow, and helped pave the way for the sounds and styles to come! Bookended by the long versions of the good-natured party rocking namesake Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" and Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel equally iconic "White Lines (Don't Do It)", the rest of the tracks really find the sweet spot between always welcome familiarity and underappreciated gems – and it's great to have them all in a top notch package! Includes The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel" (single version), "That's the Joint" by Funky 4 Plus One, " Break Dance-Electric Boogie" (single) by West Street Mob, "Funk You Up (Long Version)" by The Sequence and more, LP, Vinyl record album

Sugar Hill, 1986. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
We're not entirely certain if this is the same Jocko's as the one who cut "Rhythm talk" for Philly International a few years earlier, but this cut's in the same bag, with a bouncing commercial early 80s sound, not unlike Sugarhill Gang or Whodini. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Stix (France), 2013. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A great vintage-styled record – but one that features a host of contemporary artists, all working in the best spirit of 70s funky reggae! The set features tunes by Herbie Hancock, The Commodores, The Sugarhill Gang, and others – but all served up as dubby numbers with lots of funky elements – in the same style as the recent run of excellent 45s from the Stix Records label. A few of these cuts originally appeared as those singles, and they're mixed here with other tracks showing up for the first time ever – a great run of grooves that includes "Chameleon (Taggy Matcher disco mix)", "Money (7 Samurai disco 12" version)", "Music (The Dynamics disco 7" version)", "Brick House (Taggy Matcher disco mix)", "Suit & Tie (John Milk reggae version)", "Everybody's Talkin (Blundetto & Granmagneto orig 7" version)", "Rapper's Delight (Taggy Matcher dub)", and "Saturday Night Fever (Grandmagneto orig 7" version)".
