Godley & CremeFly Away – The Frabjoy & Runcible Spoon Sessions ... LP
Marmalade/Guerssen (Spain), Late 60s. New Copy ... $21.99 34.99
A key lost chapter in the career of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme – material recorded for the Marmalade label in the years before they burst forth to greater fame in 10CC – all with a very different vibe than the sound of that later group! There's still plenty of the heavenly quality of Godley & Creme material going on here – but with a vibe that's maybe got some of the same post-folk elements as the coolest LA Sunshine pop – almost as if Godley were singing on a Millennium album, but with all the spaced-out, completely sublime approach that Creme would bring to the sessions. Titles include "Cowboys & Indians", "Take Me Back", "Today", "Hot Sun", "Virgin Soldiers", "To Fly Away", "Seeing Things Green", and "Animal Song". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Kiyoshi SugimotoOur Time ... LP
Columbia/Lawson (Japan), 1975. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Funky guitar from Kiyoshi Sugimoto – a Japanese player who really hits his groove on this rare album from the 70s! The set's got a perfect balance between some of the earlier Japanese guitar modes, which were often a bit more jamming – and some of the smoother styles of the late 70s – particularly those Japanese fusion albums that hit bigger on the global scale. Things here are still nice and open – almost spacey at points, but still tight enough to be funky – and Sugimoto himself handled most of the arrangements, which really work well for his long, stretched-out guitar lines. Titles include "Quiet Pulse", "Marmalade Sky", "Our Time", and "Jones Street". LP, Vinyl record album
(Great Japanese pressing – with obi!)

✨✧ VariousDisco Reggae Vol 5 ... LP
Stix (France), 2023. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A long-overdue fifth entry in this wonderful series – and a set that offers up reggae-styled takes on tunes by Bobby Caldwell, Cerrone, Labelle, KC & The Sunshine Band, and other 70s club giants! As with the previous volumes, the music here is served up by a variety of different artists who've all recorded 7" singles for the Stix label – but who have a nicely unified vibe as they explore the warmer side of reggae elements – maybe almost in lovers rock territory, but with a groove that's got a bit more of a bite, thanks to the inspiration of the original tunes! Tracks include "Supernature" and "Teenage Kicks" by Taggy Matcher, "What You Won't Do For Love" and "Lady Marmalade" by Mato, "Still In The Groove" by Soul Sugar, "You'll Never Know" by Simon Nyabinghi, and "Walk On By" by Paula Mirhan. LP, Vinyl record album
