Two nice sides of mellow soul. "Pretty Little Disco Baby" isn't disco at all, and instead has a groove that's similar to the Moments' "Sexy Mama". "One Night Love Affair" is a laidback ballad. 7-inch, Vinyl record
A whole different side of this Chicago soul special agent! "Too Many Memories" has Mamie working with Willie Henderson – singing sad, but soulfully, over a stomping groove that's laid out with bass, drum, and this nice kind of snapping percussion. A well-paced dancefloor track – and backed with the deep deep soul ballad "Have Faith In Me". What a great singer! Why didn't she ever cut a full LP? 7-inch, Vinyl record
A killer bit of Southern modern soul from Ron Henderson – a tune that's got this easy-stepping vibe that's totally great, and slides into a warmly seductive vocal from Ron! The tune's laidback, but tight – and there's a nice edge that's so different than commercial soul of the time – this wonderful quality that sounds equally wonderful in the alternate vocal version of the tune! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Two tracks from this great New York group – one who recorded during the very early years of disco for the Event label – and who only really got the appreciation they deserve in later years! "I Can See Him Loving You" has fast funk grooves that are wonderful and mixed with a touch of strings – almost Sigma Sound in approach, but with a more underground vibe! "What Did I Do Wrong" is billed to "Mayberry Music" – and has a nicely different vibe – a laidback, slow-stepping quality – almost sweet soul, but with a bit more polish – and a heartbreaking mellow groove that's really wonderful! 7-inch, Vinyl record
The mellower side of Mystique – one of Chicago's more uptempo funk ensembles from the 70s! "Somebody Somebody" is a catchy little love tune – penned and arranged by Richard Rome, and produced by Bunny Sigler with a mellow sort of Philly feel. "It Took A Woman" is even better – more in a mellow Chicago soul mode, with a very laidback and slow-moving groove – and some great harmonies on the vocals of the tune! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Two of the slinkiest cuts we've ever heard from Alex Puddu – but maybe that's no surprise, as both were recorded at Sexy Lady studios! "Pullover Grigio" has a slow-stepping groove and keyboards with an almost AOR vibe – but leaner overall, and nicely laidback with cool breathy vocals from Alex! "Texas Blonde" has a slightly more upbeat groove, more nice keyboards, and slight currents of an 80s boogie vibe! 7-inch, Vinyl record
