✨✧ Le Trio CamaraLe Trio Camara ... LP
Saravah (France), 1968. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Bossa jazz from the French scene of the 60s – an ultra-hip album issued on the legendary Saravah Records label – and one that's one of the best illustrations of the label's way of blending together jazz and other global styles! The group here is a trio, with Fernando Martins on some wonderfully bold piano – working with bassist Edson Lobo and drummer Nelson Serra – in a groove that's rooted in older Rio bossa jazz modes, but also has a slightly more powerful quality, too – that special sort of late 60s flowering that Brazilian music had when it hit the very receptive European scene. The trio have a nice rolling sound that might be compared to some of the MPS jazz/Brazilian crossover sessions – and titles include "Upa Neguinho", "Nascente", "Bia", "Noa Noa", "Samba Novo", "Berimbau", "Nao Tem Solucao", and "Muito A Vontade". LP, Vinyl record album
(Dare Dare reissue pressing.)

✨✧ Latin BrothersEl Picotero ... LP
Discos Fuentes (Colombia), 1974. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
A record with a cover that's a lot more hard-hitting than some of the later global efforts from The Latin Brothers – and one with a sound that definitely matches that image too! There's a raw sound here that's right in keeping with the best of Discos Fuentes at the time – music that clearly draws inspiration from the combo of Willie Colon up in New York, but which features backing from Fruko Y Sus Tesos, who have a style that's even more raw – with all sorts of great percussion next to the jazzy piano and soaring trombone lines! Piper Pimienta Diaz handles lead vocals – and titles include "Y Tu Que", "Echa Pa'Lante Camara", "La Perla", "Que No Pare La Rumba", "San Juan De Puerto Rico", "Son Dolores De Cabeza", and "El Picotero". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original pressing! Vinyl is nice and clean, but has a click on the first track on side two – and cover has a bit of wear, and some tape on the seams.)

✨✧ Jair RodriguesJair (1967) ... LP
Philips (Brazil), 1967. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Excellent 60s work from Jair Rodrigues – soulful tracks backed by some larger arrangements, a bit big band samba, a bit post-bossa MPB. Jair's vocals are great – a bit languid, even in the lively parts, in a slightly folksy mode that's really quite compelling. Titles include "Casa Santa", "Modinha", "Vela Branca", "Camara E", "Onda Jovem", "Velho Realejo", and "Triste Madrugada". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original mono pressing. Missing the outer plastic sleeve, but in nice shape overall. Label has a name in marker.)

✨✧ CamaraoImaginary Soundtrack To A Brazilian Western Movie 1964 to 1974 ... LP
Analog Africa (Germany), Late 1960s/Early 1970s. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
Fantastic forro from the Brazilian scene of the 60s – a really hard-hitting collection of work from Camarao – and some of the sharpest use of the accordion you'll ever hear! This isn't the accordion of the polka world, Lawrence Welk, Paris musette, or even Tex-Mex music – as the rhythms to the tunes are incredibly infectious – often just served up on a spare bass drum, which is used as if it's both an acoustic bass and a percussion instrument at once – setting up tunes which move quickly and with a frenzied sort of action – followed by bits of saxophone or other reeds, and lots of incredibly deft keyboard work from Camarao – who's clearly pumping his instrument with incredible speed to match his energy on the keys! If you've never heard Brazilian forro, you're about to hear one of the best – and even if you have, the excellent presentation here by Analog Africa makes the set really stand out from some of the blander collections on the market. Titles include "Rio Antigo", "Xeem", "Xaxando Com Garibaldi", "Os Camaroes", "De Serra Em Serra", "Camaro No Oriente", "Nao Interessa Nao", "Fim De Festa", "Voce Passa Eu Acho Graca", "Forrozinho Moderno", and "Retrato De Um Forro". ✨✧ George BrunsEnchanted Tiki Room ... LP
Disneyland, 1968. Very Good+ Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
Very cool little record based around Disneyland's Enchanted Tiki Room ride. The LP comes with a cool book with lots of pictures of the exotic ride, and the music's a mix of Polynesian themes conducted by George Bruns, and original music composed and conducted by Camarata, who did a lot of the music for Disney. The record includes a narrated tour of the Jungle Cruise by Thurl Ravenscroft, and the whole thing's very groovy! LP, Vinyl record album
