✨✧ Zimbo TrioTributo A Tom Jobim Vol 1 ... LP
Clam (Brazil), 1988. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A later album by the Zimbo boys, but which still has the Trio playing in their classic bossa style, and in a tribute to Jobim that's got them doing some of his best compositions, like "Wave", "Garota de Ipanema", "So Danco Samba", "Felicidade", and "Chega De Saudade". The sound is still acoustic – although the production's sweetened things up a bit – and the band hasn't lost any of their bossa flair over the years! LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has some ring and edge wear, light stains, bent and wavy corners, and is crinkled at the top right corner.)

✨✧ Zimbo TrioBrazilian Sound – Restrained Excitement (aka Zimbo Trio 3) ... LP
RGE/Pacific Jazz, Mid 60s. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
The American issue of the third Zimbo Trio album from Brazil – presented here with the misleading "restrained" in the title – as the record is filled with bossa grooves! The album's third in a line of legendary bossa albums recorded by the Zimbo Trio in the 60s – and a set that's slightly more lyrical and contemplative than the first two! The record's still filled with plenty of full-on bossa groovers, but it's also got a nicely more spacious sense of sound overall – a quality that almost echoes some of the pianistic conceptions of Luiz Eca, as well as the drum and bass work of his partners in the Tamba Trio – but without the vocals, of course! There's a great sense of sensitivity here, without ever sounding too sleepy – and titles include "Samba Do Veloso", "Agua De Beber", "Pra Viver Feliz", "Favela", "Bocoxe", and "Kao, Xango". Elizeth CardosoElizeth Cardoso/Zimbo Trio/Jacob Do Bandolim – Vol 1 ... LP
Museu Da Imagem (Brazil), 1968. Very Good ... $9.99
Brazilian diva Elizeth Cardoso lays down a number of tracks recorded either with the Zimbo Trio, or with Jacob Do Bandolim. The Zimbo tracks have a nice bossa feel, and the titles include "Cidade Vazia", "Abertura", "E Louxo So", "Tem Do", and "Derradeira Primavera". The cuts with Jacob Do Bandolim are a little more samba oriented, but have a nice groove. Those cuts include "Barracao", "Jamais", and "Mulata Assanhada". LP, Vinyl record album
(Later Brazilian pressing – MIS-11906. Cover has some surface wear and aging, unglued bottom seam, lightly bent panels, tiny fray at the opening, and a bit of pen and a small sticker in back.)

Helena De LimaUma Noite No Cangaceiro ... LP
RGE (Brazil), 1965. Very Good ... $6.99
A live and lively little bossa vocal set – recorded at the Cangaceiro nightclub, with backing by a really great small combo! The style here is similar to other live bossa jazz sets from the time – such as Elis Regina's classic with the Zimbo Trio – and although Helena's vocal style is a bit full and sometimes emotive, the spontaneous nature of the performance really helps keep things lean and clean! The combo here is named after the club – and features Raul Mascarenhas on piano and supposedly Rildo Hora on a bit of harmonica – although he doesn't seem to appear on the record as much as the cover might indicate. Titles include "Oitavo Botequim", "Penumbra", "Ponto E Chuva", "Aconteceu", "Desilusao", "Verdade Da Vida", and 2 longer "Pot-Pourri" tracks. LP, Vinyl record album
(Original mono blue label pressing with deep groove. Cover has light wear and aging.)
