✨✧ Mamie GaloreIt Ain't Necessary/Don't Think I Could Stand It ... 7-inch
St Lawrence, 1966. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Classic Chicago soul from Mamie Galore! "It Ain't Necessary" has a rolling party groove that fits Mamie's husky vocal style really well. Monk Higgins is leading the arrangements, and the tracks' got a soaring northern groove that's very nice! "Don't Think" shows off Mamie's work on a ballad number – with slow horns vamping behind her, and some additional femal vocals on the chorus. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Labels have minimal wear.)

✨✧ Gil Scott HeronPieces Of A Man/I Think I'll Call It Morning ... 7-inch
Flying Dutchman/BGP (UK), Early 70s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
One of the most fantastic tracks ever written by Gil Scott Heron – a mellow but majestic tribute to the fragility of existence, and the kind of material that has him really putting himself out there – at a level that so few other singers can ever match! On the flipside, "I Think I'll Call It Morning" has a slightly more upbeat vibe, and this warm piano line that's mighty nice too – while Gil's vocals are equally powerful throughout! 7-inch, Vinyl record

APG CrewTakin It To The Streets/Daily Routine ... 7-inch
Yo!/P-Vine (Japan), 1991. New Copy (pic cover)... $16.99 19.99
The 7" single debut of two tracks from these Oakland underground legends! The Action Packed Gangsters deliver a nice lean groove for "Takin It To The Streets" – a mix of skittish beats and spare bassline that really serves things well lyrically, and which almost has an early Philly hip hop vibe! "Daily Routine" has that classic "Think" groove kicked up more, which does plenty for the lyrical power of the tune too! Both cuts great – and well-deserving of this treatment. 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Mighty MarvelowsI'm Without A Girl/I'm So Confused ... 7-inch
ABC, 1968. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
Killer soul from one of the best Chicago groups! The Marvelows were an incredible harmony group – and they had a very tight, very soulful sound, thanks to arrangements by the great Johnny Pate. We're not sure, but we think this single wasn't on their album, either! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Still with brown ABC Paramount sleeve, lightly bent at the sides and corners. Label has small spots of gold marker.)

Paris Smith QuintetThought Seeds/Lilith Came ... 7-inch
Oracle/Jazzaggression (Finland), Mid 70s. New Copy (pic cover)... $14.99 19.99
Two amazing tracks from underground Chicago jazz legend Paris Smith – back to back on a limited 45! "Thought Seeds" is this amazing blend of vibes, alto sax, and haunting female vocals – a very righteous tune, and one with a spirit that's unlike anything else we can think of – dark, but vibrantly positive too – with a nice solo from Jimmy Ellis near the end! "Lilith Came" has never been on vinyl before – an overlooked gem from Paris CD-only release from the 90s – with more beautiful vibes, and a lyric that's as haunting as the title! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Carl Sherlock HolmesInvestigations No 1 (2 x 7 inch set) ... 7-inch
CRS/Dynamite Cuts (UK), 1974. New Copy 2 x 7 inch Gatefold (pic cover, reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A funky holy grail – one of the rarest of the rare, and the only album ever cut by funky guitarist Carl "Sherlock" Holmes! Carl's work on the guitar is incredible – fast riffing and jazzy, with a style that's dirtier and messier than some of his 70s jazz funk contemporaries, but which also lays back on a few tracks so that Carl can deliver a sweetly soulful vocal. The album's a real blend of styles, all handled pretty darn well – and this special 2 x 7" single version features the best cuts – "It Ain't Right", "Black Bag", "Investigation", and "Think It Over". 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Burny ReynoldsIf She's Your Lover (voc, inst) ... 7-inch
Surkar, 1973. Very Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Obscure little soul single from Chicago, and one that (we think) may have a Pharoahs connection. Burny Reynolds sings some nice deep soul vocals on this 70s uptempo funky groover. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Label has a spot of pen, and a spot of sticker remnant.)

✨✧ Willie HightowerEasy Lovin/I Love You So ... 7-inch
Mercury, 1972. Good ... Out Of Stock
Beautiful little southern soul single, recorded by Chips Moman in Atlanta, and issued briefly on Mercury. We don't think Willie ever did a record for the label, which is a real shame, because he's got the kind of sophisticated southern soul style that the label handled so well with Roy C. "Easy Lovin" is a particularly great one, too! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Mono white label promo. Labels have surface wear & lots of pen.)
