✨✧ IndeepLast Night A DJ Saved My Life (voc, acapella)/DJ Delight/Bonus Sound Effect Tracks ... 12-inch
Sound Of New York/Becket, 1982. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Maybe a bit goofy, but now a classic club track that's survived the test of time nicely as just about every DJ's theme song, with a monster scratchy guitar riff, and lots of that rolling bass pedal groove that was so popular in the early 80s. 12-inch, Vinyl record

IndeepWhen Boys Talk (voc, acapella, inst, scratch version A, scratch version B) ... 12-inch
Sound Of New York, 1983. Very Good+ ... $7.99
The other single from one-hit-wonders Indeep. The cut has almost the same feel as "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life", with an insistent beat and a propulsive bass pedal, and a sort of chirping funky guitar line, but at a slightly slower tempo. The scratch versions don't actually have scratching on them, but are more like striped down bonus beats. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Sound Of New York sleeve.)

✨✧ Cloud OnePatty Duke (instrumental – parts 1 & 2) ... 12-inch
Sound Of New York, 1979. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A killer moogy club classic! Cloud One were part of the whole Patrick Adams/Peter Brown cluster of groups who used tight club grooves and spacey production styles to forge a legendary disco sound that's finally getting its due these days. This single, the obscure "Patty Duke", is one of the most compelling chapters in that legacy – as it's a strange bubbly track, with a tight hard groove, and lots of weird little moogy and keyboard bits! Very nice, and issued here in the 2-part instrumental version! 12-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Quando QuangoLove Tempo (original, mix) ... 12-inch
Factory, 1983. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of our favorite Factory Records club tracks – a percolated number that was equal parts New York and Manchester! The electro beats and slight Latin groove have a wonderful crossover downtown sound – as does the flatted sax bit that comes along with the hook – but the vocals also have a nice deadpan sound that gives the tune some nice post-punk darkness! Mark Kamins mixed, with his usual flair for this sort of track! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(US pressing in the stickered sleeve, with a cut corner, ring and edge wear, lightly bent edges, and small index label with BPM. Labels have promo ink stamps.)

✨✧ Joe R LewisChange Reaction EP ... 12-inch
Target, 1988. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
A great little ep of tracks from Joe R Lewis – one of the lesser-known figures of the Chicago house scene of the 80s, and an artist who had a sound that presaged some of the New York styles of the late 80s and early 90s. The set's got a nice moody feel overall, and features 6 tracks that include "Sometimes I", "All Aboard House Train (inst)", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Separate Ways (insane mix)", "Change Reaction (headache mix)", and "Set Me Free (radio)" with vocals by Janene Moran. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Original blue label pressing. Labels have minimal wear.)

✨✧ Liquid LiquidOptimo/Cavern/Scraper/Out ... 12-inch
99 Records, 1983. Sealed (pic cover)... Out Of Stock
Seminal work from Liquid Liquid – one of the coolest, funkiest groups on the New York scene at the start of the 80s! The approach here is a blistering blend of different percussion modes – from batucada jamming to funky drums – all tied together with these basslines that really make the whole thing vibrated with a massive sound! The music's a bit in the spirit of ESG – who also recorded for the same label at the time – but is also a lot more adventurous, and played with even more tightness too. Titles include the wicked cut "Cavern", which was the massive sample for the classic hip hop track "White Lines" – and other titles include "Scraper", "Optimo", and "Out". 12-inch, Vinyl record
(2015 reissue on Superior Viaduct.)

✨✧ Midnight Express Show BandTri Fire Vol 2 – 1983 to 1985 ... 12-inch
Peoples Potential, Early/Mid 80s. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A sweet sweet set of rare tracks from start of the 80s – all recorded in the far-out locale of Rock Island, IL – but done with a funky groove to rival the best sounds coming out of New York or Minneapolis at the time! Midnight Express were a regional show band, and they've got a bass-heavy, bottom-centrist groove that's totally great – really bumping up from the lower level with some great basslines and stark drum bits too – heard here in an all-instrumental groove that's really wonderful – just the kind of local genius that's waiting to be discovered all these many years later! 12-inch, Vinyl record
