Mike DogliottiCandombe For Export/Candombe Liso & Extras – The Complete Sondor Recordings ... CD
Sondor/Vampi Soul (Spain), Early 70s. New Copy ... $5.99 16.99
Very groovy organ work from the amazing Mike Dogliotti – a player with a wonderful sense of whimsy and rhythm, heard here in a key collection of jazzy groovers – tracks that are almost the Argentine answer to Walter Wanderley's classic bossa sides from the 60s! The styles here are all quite lively – with a fair bit of heavy percussion underneath Mike's lightning-fast work on the keys – organ lines that move way faster even than Wanderley's best, and which show a similarly fluid approach! And in case you're worried that you've never heard of Dogliotti before, don't worry – because the package features a whopping 27 tracks in all, including 2 complete albums' worth of music, plus bonus tracks – more than enough to help you catch up on listening! Titles include "Don Pascual", "Candela", "Dona Gregoria", "Las Mazanas", "Siga El Baile", "Tierra", "Biricunyamba", "Ahi Va La Camparsa", "Chiquilada", "Biafra", "El Candomble", and "Palo Y Tamboril". Gaston Dino CiarloLos Tanos ... LP
Sondor (Uruguay), 1983. Very Good Gatefold ... $49.99
Very moody work from the Uruguayan scene – mostly acoustic guitar and vocals, with some light arrangements from Richard Kyriam from time to time – which nicely underscores the dark currents in Dino's vocals! LP, Vinyl record album
(Inside gatefold cover might have an autograph from the artist, but we can't verify it.)

✨✧ Maria De FatimaBahia Com H ... LP
Sondor/Altercat (Germany), 1981. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A rare bossa set from Argentina – but one that sparkles like some of the best MPB of the time! The lovely Maria De Fatima sings and plays guitar in a style that's not unlike Joyce – quite warm, and often a bit airy – gliding out beautifully over lightly dancing rhythms that draw on samba, bossa, and a bit of jazz! But there's also some more sophisticated phrasings here too – elements that clearly come from a love of 70s work by Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and their generation – served up subtly and simply by Maria in her music, with a really unique feel overall. Instrumentation is relatively light – again, a quality that reminds us of Joyce at her best – and backings include work from the Fattoruso brothers, who'd crafted some earlier bossa sets on their own! Titles include "Voce Sorrindo E Entregando", "Toda Menina Bahiana", "Coisas Estranhas", "Bahia Com H", "Tres Pontas", "Sao Joao Xango Menino", and "Cancombe Brasileiro Montevideano". ✨✧ Miguel Y El ComitePara Hacer Musica – Para Hacer (with bonus track) ... CD
Sondor/Lion, 1971. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A 70s rock album like you've never heard – one that mixes some of the groovier style of late 60s beat combo material with a more percussive approach that showcases the group's Uruguayan origin – all with a result that's completely wonderful throughout! There's almost a Latin soul vibe mixed into the music at times – the percussion driving the guitars more than the other way around – with some nice rhythm breaks in the middle, and romping lyrics that are sung by the group in a very party-hearty sort of style! The whole thing's great – even different than other South American classics of the period – and titles include "Para Hacer Musica, Para Hacer", "No Va Mas (Ya)", "Mi Sol", "Que Me Importa", "Junto Al Mar", "No Ves Que No Cabe", "Candombe Triste", "Hiroshima", and "Rompan Todo". CD also features the bonus cut "Mala-Mala", a 1972 single b-side. CD

✨✧ HojasMis Suenos Piden (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Sondor/Lion, 1973. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A really cool debut from Hojas – a well-honed Uruguayan group, and one who emerge fully formed on their first record! Hojas have a sound that resonates strongly with other South American rock from the time – fuzzy guitars mixed with rhythms that are a bit more chunky than most American groups – produced in a way that's often sweetly compressed, but a bit rough at times – creating a sense of soul that really shines through, even if you can't always understand the lyrics! This album was the group's debut, and it's lovingly presented here with notes in English and a number of bonus tracks from singles too – a really great introduction to a group you'll never track down in the record bins over here! Original titles include "El Mundo Es Una Flor", "Lo Has Pensado Tu", "Sincero", "Somos Extranos", and "Hazlo Ya Amigo". Bonus tracks include "Yo Solo Estoy", "Sini Ti", "No Pierdas La Fe", "Imaginate En El Mundo", and "Un Buen Dia". CD

✨✧ Pippo SperaA Buen Puerto (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Sondor/Lion, 1977. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A very groovy bit of Argentine rock – a bit lighter and more dreamy than sets from earlier in the 70s, but in a really great way! There's a nicely languid feel to the whole record – gentle rhythms on percussion, speared with just a bit of atmospheric organ – and vocals from Pippo that float along gently with the sound – often hitting a mode that's much more bossa nova than you'd expect, but maybe no surprise, given that the album features a Dorival Caymmi cover! The percussion really sets the tone for the record, but the light bits of guitar and organ are great too – and in a way, we might almost say that the set's got the same sort of bossa nova extrapolation/exploration you'd find in some of the mellower post-punk projects of early 80s UK, or maybe even like some of the cooler projects coming from the Benelux scene. Titles include "A Buen Porto", "Dejalo Libre", "El Amor No Espera", "Columbande", "Nina Malcriada", "Puedo Ser Que Manana", and "Debes Encontralo En Ti". Also features 2 bonus cuts – "Rejouis Toi" and "Y Sin Embargo Tu Estabas Ahi". CD
