✨✧ Masters Of RealityMasters Of Reality ... CD
Def American, 1988. Used ... Out Of Stock
With a name like Masters Of Reality – a clear reference to classic Black Sabbath – you definitely know where these guys are coming from – but there's also a quality to the record that's very much a statement of the times – that post-metal, post-grunge moment when the American scene was finding a surprisingly strong voice to cross over between the underground and mainstream! Rick Rubin produced, but the album's got a voice of its own – located somewhere in a space between LA and Texas, although with elements of both of those scenes. Titles include "The Candy Song", "The Eyes Of Texas", "Lookin To Get Rite", "Kill The King", "Sleep Walkin", "Theme For The Scientist Of The Invisible", and "Domino". CD

✨✧ Linval ThompsonLinval Presents – Space Invaders (2CD pressing) ... CD
Greensleeves, 1981. Used 2CD ... Out Of Stock
wicked little record, and one that lives up to its Space Invaders theme right from the start – thanks to a host of sweet electronic touches from Scientist, over a set of killer head-nodding dubs from Roots Radics! The group themselves are in totally top form – massive bass from Flabba Holt and drums from Style and Santa – topped with wicked guitar licks, and some sweet organ lines from Winston Wright – but it's clearly Scientist who's the star of the show, for the way he cooks the elements together and comes up with a sound that more than does justice to the extra-cool cover! Familiar elements are nicely abstracted, and juxtaposed with clever shifts in the studio – all to create massive dubs that include "Beam Down", "Red Shift", "Time Warp", "Cloning Process", "Pulsar", "Laser Attack", "Dematerialize", "Fission", "Super Nova Explosion", and "Quasar". 2CD version features bonus vocal tracks – by Wayne Wade, Wailing Souls, Sammy Dread, Linval Thompson, and Johnny Osbourne! ✨✧ VariousAlex Attias Presents The Chromatic Universe ... CD
Visions (UK), 2002. Used ... Out Of Stock
A wonderful collection of work by Alex Attias – pulled from a variety of collaborative projects over the past few years, most of which were instantly "lost" on hard to find singles and obscure import titles. As a whole, the album stands as one of the best introductions to Alex's groundbreaking work you'll ever find – and in a way, it's more of a cohesive album, featuring the full scope of his talents expressed in the company of a variety of like-minded talents. Cosmic, soaring, spiritual, and wonderful – with tracks that include "Sunrays" by Vanessa Freeman, "Waenda" by Emelda, "Sarasowju (Nu mix)" by Plutonia, "Cascade (Nu mix)" by Idema & Co, "Daylight" by Xela Saitta, "Desert Vinyl (rude dub)" by Son Of Scientist, and "Willo The Wisp" by Pavel Kostiuk. 12 tracks in all. An amazing collection of 50 tracks spread out over 3 CDs from the label's vast catalogue of reggae classics. ✨✧ Leonard RosenmanFantastic Voyage – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack ... CD
Film Score Monthly, 1966. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of the greatest soundtracks ever from Leonard Rosenman – and a key example of his strong talent for mixing acoustic instrumentation with very offbeat and eerie electronics! Rosenman had offered up this blend on other important science soundtracks of the 60s – but probably hit his apex with this gem – penned for mid 60s film about a bunch of scientists who shrink down, and take a trip inside the human body! The electronics are sublime – used in these stark, sharp ways that are very compelling, and downright evil in nature – providing a real contrast to some of the warmer woodwind touches in the orchestrations, even when they try to echo the electric energy. The whole thing's pretty darn great – a lot bleaker musically than the actual film – and titles include "Proteus Moving Through Sac", "Group Leaves", "The Proteus", "The Chart", "Pulmonary Artery", "Get The Laser", and "The Human Brain".
