The cut here is "Make It In Life" with Group Home stepping up the lyrics and add more energy to the vocal style since their days on Payday, plus some nice dense production by Agallah. A tale of giving up the thug life, complete with vocal samples from Louis Farrakhan. Production on "Stupid Muthaf*ckas" by the Alchemist. 12-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Keith HudsonPlaying It Cool & Playing It Right ... LP
Joint International, 1981. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A rare side from Keith Hudson, teaming up with Bullwackie Barnes for a mighty set – two of our favorite producers in one place – and one that's been painfully hard to come by for some time. Issued originally on the Joint International imprint in the early 80s, we can't remember the last time we came across a copy of this set, featuring deep space dub mixes, with gut rumbling bass and murky reverb following hot on the heels of their vocal accompaniment, voiced by Wayne Jarrett, the Lovejoys and Hudson himself. A dozen jams in all, including "Playing It Cool", "Playing It Right Dub", "Trust & Believe", "By Night Dub", "Not Good For Us", "Be What You Want To Be" and "Still Need You Dub". LP, Vinyl record album
(Early 00s German Basic Replay reissue.)

✨✧ Wanda RobinsonBlack Ivory ... LP
Perception, Early 70s. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Wanda Robinson was one of the first hip, black, female poets to set righteous words to funky music – and this album is one of her two classic sides for the Perception label from the early 70s. The format is spoken word over funky instrumentals – and backing is by Patrick Adams, James Moody, and others, mixing jazz, soul, and funk conceptions to fit the mood of each of Wanda's tracks on the set. The titles should give you a good flavor of the material – as the set includes "The First Time I Saw Loneliness", "The Great American Passtime", "Parting Is Such", "Tragedy No 456", "A Black Oriented Love Poem", "Instant Replay", "The Trouble With Dreams", and "Grooving".
