✨✧ VariousBoppin By The Bayou – Made In The Shade – Cool Tracks From Hot Wax – 28 Louisiana Dancefloor Fillers ... CD
Ace (UK), 1950s/Early 60s. Used ... Out Of Stock
Early rock, rhythm & blues and boogie woogie-fueled numbers from the late 50s and early 60s southern Louisiana and southeast Texas scenes– a real treasure trove of tunes in the Boppin' In The Bayou series from Ace Records! This one's pretty heavy with sax and piano-backed proto rock – dynamite tunes from forgotten heroes and a few legendary cats alike – with numbers by Frankie Lowery, a great early tune by Mickey Gilley, Gene Dunlap, Pee Wee Trayhan, Shelby Martin and many more. 28 tracks in all – and the titles include "Made In The Shade" by Gene Dunlap & Jokers, "TC Show" by Gene King & His Mecaton Band, "Baby Hurry Home" by Pee Wee Trayhan, "My Baby's Cheating On Me" by Mickey Gilley, "Ha Ma Man" by Warren Storm, "Me And My Baby" by Rick Johnson, "Cinderella" by Paul Marvin, "Rock & Roll Baby" by Bobby Wheeler & His B-Bops, "Somebody Knocked At My Door" by Arnold Broussard, "Little Cajun Girl" by Gene Rodrigue and more. ✨✧ Barry De Vorzon/Mandrill/Joe WalshWarriors – Original Soundtrack ... CD
A&M, 1979. Used ... Out Of Stock
We can remember when this movie spooked the heck out of us – and now it remains as a charming period piece from the days when New York was overrun by gangsters dressed up in baseball uniforms or overalls – representing a version of the Big Apple during the bankrupt 70s that's turned out to have more longstanding charm than the gang in Clockwork Orange! The music's very well-suited in a period style – a sweet mix of Latin, funk, rock, and soundtrack spookiness – with titles that include "Echoes In My Mind" by Mandrill, "Baseball Furies Chase" by Barry De Vorzon, "In Havana" by Kenny Vance & Ismael Miranda, "Nowhere To Run" by Arnold McCuller, and of course the classic "In The City" by Joe Walsh. ✨✧ Bill FayStill Some Light – Part 1 ... CD
Dead Oceans, Early 1970s. Used ... Out Of Stock
Genius work from the legendary Bill Fay – one of those 70s artists who never got their due back in the day, but who have gone on to become a crucial piece of the musical puzzle as the years move on! Fay recorded two incredible records for Decca – treasures as rare as the early Nick Drake albums – and like Drake, Bill was years ahead of his time, although in very different ways – an incredible songsmith, with qualities that maybe come through best of all in the material within! The tracks are all from Fay's personal archives – recorded in the early 70s in a stripped-down mode, but as fully formed songs – brought to the light of day by David Tibet, and presented here in a way that finally give these lost years their full exposure. Titles on this first volume include "Plan D", "Inside The Keeper's Pantry", "Arnold Is A Simple Man", "Time Of The Last Persecution", "Backwoods Maze", "The Sun Is Bored", "Release Is In The Eye", "Tell It Like It Is", and "Pictures Of Adolf Again". ✨✧ Pink FloydPiper At The Gates Of Dawn (3CD deluxe edition) ... CD
EMI (UK), 1967. Used 3CD ... Out Of Stock
A brilliant bit of psychedelia – still as fresh today as it was many decades back – and the crowning achievement of Pink Floyd during the early Syd Barrett years! The album's got all the best elements of the group firmly in place – the penchant for long-jamming tracks that still manage to always maintain a sharp edge – mixed with some of the wittier, more playful lyrics that Barrett brought to the group – all wrapped up with a sense of depth and darkness that goes way beyond most of their contemporaries. The record's a masterpiece through and through – from its first guitar-heavy jam on "Astronomy Domine", through the strutting, vamping madness of "Bike" – all up and down other gems that include "Lucifer Sam", "The Gnome", "Take Up Thy Stethoscope & Walk", "Interstellar Overdrive", "Chapter 24", and "The Scarecrow". 3CD set features a full CD of the mono version, a full CD of the stereo version, and a bonus CD with the tracks "Arnold Layne", "Candy & A Currant Bun", "See Emily Play", "Apples & Oranges", "Paintbox", "Interstellar Overdrive (take 2)", and "Matilda Mother (previously unreleased alt version)". Plus, the package is a hardcover book-styled one – with lyrics, photos, and a pull-out booklet of artwork! CD

Bill Evans TrioBill Evans At Town Hall Volume One ... CD
Verve, 1966. Used ... $1.99
An open-ended live date from Bill Evans – recorded at the auspicious venue of Town Hall, but recorded with a warmth that matches Evans' smaller club sessions of the 60s! The sound here is possibly a bit more focused and direct than some of the moodier, mellower Evans live records – well pointed at the start, but then moving into some gentler chromatic modes as the set moves on – all with gentle accompaniment from Chuck Israels on bass and Arnold Wise on drums. Titles include trio versions of "I Should Care", "Spring Is Here", 'Who Can I Turn To" and "Make Someone Happy" – then Evans takes a 13 minute solo turn, dedicating a suite to the memory of his father! ✨✧ Buddy ChildersSam Songs/Buddy Childers Quartet ... CD
Liberty/Fresh Sound (Spain), 1955/1956. Used ... Out Of Stock
A great look at west coast trumpeter Buddy Childers – a player who's name frequently shows up in larger group sessions of the 50s, but who rarely ever recorded as a leader at the time! The package brings together both of Childers' albums for Liberty – Sam Songs, recorded in 1955 with a quintet that includes Herbie Steward on tenor, Bob Harrington on piano, Harry Babasin on bass, and Milt Holland on drums; and Buddy Childers Quartet, recorded a year later with Arnold Ross on piano, Babasin on bass, and Boone Stines on drums. Childers has a sound that's not nearly as cool as his contemporaries, and which is almost sweet and lyrical at times – heard to great effect on both of these small group sessions, especially the quartet album, which is a wonderfully introspective little record. Titles include "Canned Sam", "Deviled Sam", "Sam Metrically", "Ding Dong Sam Is Dead", "Bernie's Tune", "Holiday House", "It's Gotta Be Happy", and "Buffy". CD
