✨✧ Los Saicos (aka Saicos)Demolician – The Complete Recordings 1965 to 1966 ... LP
Munster (Spain), Mid 60s. New Copy ... $26.99
An incredible batch of prime garage rock era nuggets from the Peruvian scene – fuzzy gems by the Saicos! The Saicos bring a sense of menace to these tunes – with a guitar tone touched with an eerie vibe, and lead vocals that are really piercing and gravelly in that instills this primordial edge that needs to be heard to be believed – but that balance it off with some moddish, British invasion grooves, too. The overall sound manages to blend both the heavy menace of cult acts like the Monks and the Seeds with the tunefulness of the Animals – and clear precursor the garage punk for decades to come! Titles include "Come On (Ven Aqui)", "Ana", "Demolicion", "Lonely Star (Estrella Solitaria)", "Cememterio", "Te Amo", "Fugitivo De Alcatraz", "Salvaje", "El Entierro De Los Gatos", "Besando A Otra" and "Intensamente". Comes with a great booklet, too! LP, Vinyl record album

PetsPets ... LP
Discomoda/Munster (Spain), 1968. New Copy (reissue)... $27.99 29.99
A record that's every bit as groovy as its cover – the rare self-titled set from Venezuelan 60s combo The Pets – a group who serve up lots of cool cuts with a swinging 60s vibe! Lyrics are in Spanish, but the instrumentation echoes plenty of Anglo styles – especially 60s work from the Sunset Strip scene, mixed up with organ lines, jangly guitars, and production styles that really give the whole thing a nice balance between moody moments and more upbeat grooves! The group turn in a great and very unusual version of "Hello I Love You", serve up their own gem "El Entierro De Un Hombre Rico", and do a great job on other tunes that include "La Pobreza", "En El Verano", "No Lo Hagas Tan Dificil", "Este Es El Fin", and "Revolucion". ✨✧ Shelly Y Nueva GeneracionShelly Y Nueva Generacion ... LP
Munster (Spain), Mid 1960s. New Copy ... $27.99 29.99
A very cool Spanish group from the 60s – a beat group, but one who've clearly got an influence from American soul as well! Lead singer Shelly has a voice that packs plenty of punch – in the way that some of the best British female singers of the era were often a lot more soulful than their American counterparts – and the echoey production of the record really amplifies that quality in a mighty nice way! Instrumentation is a lean blend of organ, guitar, bass, and drums – much rawer than UK work of this nature, and served up here in a package that brings together all the rare singles by the group. Titles include "All I Need", "7 Rooms Of Gloom", "I'm A Poor Girl", "Devil Woman", "Make Me Yours", "Baby I Love You", and "Vestido Azul". LP, Vinyl record album

Telegraph AveTelegraph Ave ... LP
Mag/Munster (Spain), 1971. New Copy (reissue)... $27.99 29.99
One of the coolest albums from the legendary Peruvian scene at the start of the 70s – served up by a group who've got a Bay Area reference in their name, and who definitely work with a mix of Latin and psychedelic elements that echo that scene – but with a special sort of vibe that's all their own! Some moments on the record have that perfect pop production and presentation that we love from their contemporaries We All Together – yet other points echo more of the older sound of Mag Records, and the way the label could cook up some really heavy Latin groovers to rival the best of New York. Yet the trippier sounds of the psych generation are what really make the record great – clearly a Santana inspiration, but taken in new directions too – on titles that include "Sungaligali", "Sweet Whatever", "Happy", "Something Going", "Telegraph Avenue", and "Sometimes In Winter". ✨✧ Traffic SoundVirgin (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Mag/Munster (Spain), 1970. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... $27.99 29.99
A legendary album from the Peruvian scene at the start of the 70s – a record from one of the key groups who were really helping deepen the sound of the music at the time, and take things far past some of the simpler Anglo-inspired music of the 60s! It's tempting to call these guys psychedelic, but they've also got so much more going on too – maybe a bit like some of the Argentine groups, in that they are allowing for regional instrumentation to play with electric elements – all while delivering tunes that have a surprisingly new level of thoughtfulness in the lyrics. The blend is a bit hard to describe, but it comes across instantly in the music – at a level that's made the set one of the true global rock classics of the decade! Titles include "Virgin", "Tell The World I'm Alive", "Yellow Sea Days", "Jews Caboose", "Simple" and "Meshkalina". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Los YorksLos Yorks 68 ... LP
Mag/Munster (Spain), 1968. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Rough-edged rock and roll from the Peruvian scene of the 60s – a set cut at a time when the scene was still very much in love with the R&B-influenced style of the UK beat groups, and less concerned with some of their later, more psychedelic directions! There's a nicely garagey quality to many of the tunes here – not just from the muddy drumbeats, fuzzy guitar, and bass – but also from the way that the lead vocals are recorded – often much louder than the instrumentation, blowing the sound way into the red. There's a few more psych-oriented moments – really just hints of what's to come, and less all-out jams – and titles include "Mira Tu", "Vallery", "Solo Pido Amor", "La Punta De Mi Lengua", "Charo", "Se Que No Cambiaras", "Abrazame Baby", and "Solo Estoy". ✨✧ Plastic People Of The UniverseMagical Nights ... CD
Munster, Late 1960s/1970s/Mid 1980s. Used 2CD ... Out Of Stock
A nicely done compilation that couldn't have been easy to put together – probably as solid of an anthology of the long-running, legendary anti-establishment Czech underground rock collective Plastic People Of The Universe – with material from as early as 1969 up to 1985! A lot bands from a lot of places can be described as "underground", but few as aptly as Plastic People. The group was once jailed by the Czechoslovak communist regime and part of the movement leading up the Velvet Revolution. Astounding stuff in a social/cultural/political frame, but the music is incredible! Influences of benchmark western style underground heavies of their time, from Beefheart to Zappa and well beyond, but Plastic People Of The Universe evolved into an amazing entity all their own! 31 tracks on 2CDs: "MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer)", "Magicke Noci (On Magical Night)", "Apokalyptickej Ptak (Apocalyptic Bird)", "Francovka", "Okolo Okna (Along The Window)", "Pf (Happy New Year)", "Podel Zdi A Doleva (Along The Wall And To The Left)", "Jednou Nohou (With One Leg)" and many more. ✨✧ TarkusTarkus ... LP
Mag/Munster (Spain), Early 70s. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A definite heavy jammer from the Peruvian scene of the early 70s – proof that while some of the late 60s crowd was headed towards soft rock modes, the rest were coming up with an even sharper edge and heavier barrage of guitars! There's a real sense of darkness to the record that matches the group's name and cover – a sound that's nicely allied with Deep Purple or Black Sabbath at their early best, but which also has its own uniquely spooky overtones. Titles include "Tempestad", "Cambiemos Ya", "Martha Ya Esta", "Rio Tonto", "Tema Para Lilus", "Tranquila Reflexion", and "Teimpo En El Sol". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ We All TogetherWe All Together 2 ... LP
Munster (Spain), 1974. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
The stunning second album from We All Together – a relatively obscure group from Peru, but one with a brilliance that matches our favorite UK and California pop of the late 60s! These guys clearly love the Beatles, but also have open ears for some of the hipper strands that were floating out of the A&M Studios at the end of the 60s – and singing in English throughout, they've got an amazing way with an original tune, and mix acoustic piano and light guitar with completely transcendent production – simple, but marvelously effective in the way it lifts the whole proceedings into the heavens! Titles include "Ozzy", "Cloudy Night", "Silly Roadman", "Who Knows", "Little Boy", "Persons & Faces", "Follow Me If You Can", and "Beautiful People". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Jimmy SmithMonster ... LP
Verve, Late 60s. Very Good- Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Totally cool Jimmy Smith album that has him playing a lot of funky groovy versions of TV and Film themes, like "Goldfinger", "Theme From The Munsters", "Theme From Man With the Golden Arm", and "Theme From Bewitched". Oliver Nelson leads a large band and does the arrangements, and Jimmy's in fine fine form, with hard solos that come out wailing over the top of the orchestrations. LP, Vinyl record album
(Stereo MGM pressing with Van Gelder stamp and deep groove. Cover has some light ring wear.)
